Default 1995 LS400: remote key or just remote fob?

I recently purchased a 95 LS400, and included were only 2 keys, I am assuming one of them is the valet and the other is the master.... Does this car come from the factory with a separate remote fob for keyless entry, or is it built into the master key? I've searched the forum and it seems as though the 95-96 do not have a remote key? Also, how trustworthy is it to purchase the remote fob from ebay, as one of the other members have posted? Lastly, there is a security indicator light in the car, is the car equipped with a factory alarm? How does it work? Will i need a remote to activate/deactivate it? thanks for the space... I'm sure I will have many more questions soon!

A 95 comes with two remote fobs, I attached a chart for you below.

It also has a factory alarm, works with the keys as well and automatically arms/disarms the OEM system when you lock and unlock your doors. It's basically just an ignition kill where your horns beep and your lights flash when it goes off. It doesn't have a separate siren like a regular alarm.

Also, just a tidbit of info I thought you might like to know. I believe it works on a 95, when you unlock your drivers door and then turn the key as if your unlocking it again (two times) the drivers window will roll down to cool off the car prior to entering it. Not sure how many owners know the car has that feature.

You can purchase them off of Ebay as well. If you can find brand new ones in the package on Ebay then go for it. If there used your just taking a chance obviously but they still may work. Make sure they have the same frequency codes as the chart shows prior to purchasing them.

hrrmmm... the auctions only advertise an FCC# that does not correspond to the frequency codes on your chart.... is there a separate chart for the FCC#?

THANKS

Wow, I didn't know that I could roll the window up and down using my key, very cool.

I have a 95 LS400 and I would love to ditch the separate remote fob for a one-piece key/remote from a newer Lexus. Has anyone ever managed to do this?

Dragging this up from the dead.

I'm looking at a 96. Does it have the same or a different FCC ID# as posted above?

Excellent!

Is there anyone who has the programming procedure for these remotes?
Does anyone know of a source for replacement remotes at a better price than the dealer? My local dealer wants $303CND (about the same in USD) PER remote fob!

search on US ebay using HYQWDT-C as your search term, and have it search titles AND descriptions, should be able to find one for around US$40 which is about $41 CND

here is one that is in like new condition with programming instructions included!

I have had good luck with remote fobs purchased from ebay.

Default LS400 programming remote

I have not been able to program a remote for my 95 LS400. According to the dealership it can't be done without replacing the control unit in the car.
My experience so far seems to back up that claim.

I bought 2 used fobs on eBay and had the dealer program both without issue. Cost me $35 to program the pair.

That does not mean you do not have a fob/control unit problem though...
