LS 400 Overheating
My sons LS 400 is overheating. It has adequate coolant, is not leaking fluids, has a new thermostat, is not leaking into the heads or showing oil in the colant. He did have a coolant leak a month ago and used stop leak. His idea not mine. It continues to overheat. Today he noticed the heater was not blowing hot air as the temp started to rise. Suddenly the heater started putting out hot air and the tempreature dropped. It sound like something is clogged. His electric fans function. Is the radiator gunked with dead bugs/etc?
Any ideas or insight would be a great help.

My sons LS 400
It si a 1990. It is not the original rad and was maintained before he purchased it. It does have 160,000 on it. I will flush the system for him and clean the rad and all asorted areas where air flows. I'll also check to see if his fans come on at the right temp. 200 degress? Or is it 180?

Hello,
that is exactly what my dads LS 400 had. All the dirt between the radiators. The car now has 444000km on and still first thermostat, waterpump and so on.
