Default 1st gen gear shift

This is not an advertisement so please don't bump

I just switched out my gear shift with an aftermarket one from napolex, and MHO is that it looks great! it is a little pricey ($120 w/o shipping) but it really does look so much better. unfortunately I still live in the stone age and don't own adigital camera to post pics with, but I'll try to figure some way to post some. If any one decides to get one a couple things to consider 1 get the one without the over drive button I never turn my o/d off so the gaudy chrome button is worthless. 2 get the japanese side drive (I don't know if it is left or right hand drive its just the opposite of american) it will match your wood grain better and it will also place the chrome o/d button out of your site on the passenger side. Just a couple of notes and opinions about this particular "upgrade"

what about the gear locking mechanism? Does the shifter lock into drive, or can it move to L or 2 without depressing the shifter

Yes it is the LV-453 no hassle at all there is a plastic insert that you will have to take out so the new one fits and two wires to connect for the over drive but that is it, 20 minute job max!

Yes the shifter does lock when you put it in drive you do have to depress the shift lock button on the shifter to shift to 2 or L
