Default Polarized glasses

I was wearing a pair of polarized sunglasses (Persol) this morning, the kind that blocks uvlight. I saw that my aircon display looked darkened in the left hand corner. It seems that this display is going to go soon. You cant see it normally but with the glasses on you can see the darkening effect on the display. If this is true, its a great way to check on your displays, if they are going to fail...

The radio display looked perfectly normal. This is on a Gen 1 LS400.

Yeah, the polarized sunglasses effect is pretty cool. Using mine, the climate control lcd has an orange background and the radio still grey. I assume the previous owner had the climate control display changed out. They both have the grey background without the glasses.

Yeah. it's really interesting to see these displays using this filter. You can actually tell if anything is about to fail. I'd rather know sooner than later so I can plan to get it fixed.

Does your display look uniform? Same color all over?

Thanks.

Yes, both the climate control LCD and the stereo LCD appear to be perfect from end to end. That's why I believe the previous owner had the climate control changed. He was a stickler for maintenance...the car is a '93 LS and has a Lexus battery in it! It can't be the original, so he went to the dealer for a replacement when it was time.

The owner of my car did the same thing.

Paid the Lexus dealer $ 400 for a new factory battery. Every service performed at least 30 days before it was clocked. Amazing.

Even more Amazing since I just spent $ 2,500 in fixes that Lexus should have performed for her. A 1990 with 76K miles.

Beware of your dealers. Someone was futzing around with the water pump and had put in the wrong sized bolt. almost stripped the threads to the block. The car has never been touched by anyone except Lexus.
