Exclamation Harsh Engagement Solved!!!

1993 Ls400 134,570 Miles

I have been trying to rid my LS of this embarrassing problem for years now. After messing around with my TPS sensor I finally got the Car to idle perfectly. By doing this Shifting from Park to Reverse is not noticible, however, From Neutral to Drive still bangs (lurches) forward.
It seems the engine RPM's flare right before it engages in Drive, this explains the harsh engagement. So, I tried to shift as slow as possible from N to D (at least 3 seconds). When the Gear shifter was between N and D the RPM's would shoot up(about 100-200 RPM's), but slowly fall back to normal, at that moment I slowly Slip it in D and the Engagement was absolutely Perfect. It seems like a hassle to do everytime but nonetheless it does the job.
This may or may not work for you, but Give it a shot. Let me know what happened.
