I think your referring to the lock switch for the windows.
You can lock the windows so passengers can't open them.
Safety feature especially if you have young children seated in the rear.

I believe the 91 has a factory remote key. Your battery is probably dead.

Are you referring to the one right next to the gas door release?
If so, then that's to lock the trunk
If you push it in and lock it then no one can unlock/pop your trunk with the switch from inside your car.
For example if someone breaks into your car they can't access your trunk.

Your year didn't have a separate remote FOB like the later years did.
Like I stated before, your key should have a very small black button at the end, it blends in
with the key so it might be hard to see. Look carefully at your key and examine it.
There is a battery inside your key that needs replacing.

Are you talking about the two position rocker switch that turns the keyless entry off or on? My 90 LS had such as switch by the mirror control but my 00 LS does not. I think my 90 owners manual said to turn the keyless entry off when parking for extended periods of time at airports where other signals might cause the doors to unlock.

Kansas is correct, I also have a 91 LS and that switch is to turn ON / OFF your keyless entry system. If your key has a transmitter, you will see a button on the side of the key and will say "lock / unlock" on the key cover.

Might help to use a "period" every once in a while after a statement because that is some run on sentence.
We're family here so we abuse each other in a light hearted way, all in fun.

You probably have to go to your nearest Lexus dealership and visit the parts department.

The OEM keyless entry system is pretty expensive, I would recommend you get an aftermarket alarm system installed, this way you will have more options like, door lock/unlock, trunk opener, engine disable, etc.... and have a proffesional install it.
