I am guilty as charged. Got bored two days ago and did some donuts in my 92 LS400
But alas the Lexus gods were not happy and have punished me for my harsh treatment on my baby. The steering is hard. I am assuming its the power steeringof course. Its as though i don't even have it. So any guess's what all problems are involved and what a fix might cost and should i take it to a Lexus dealership?(i have a good import repair shop, just curious) I know i was wrong for my actions. But the smoke was immense and no wind!

the power steering fluid level is normal, as for color? what should it be? mine is like an amber or tan, not burnt. But i know it had something to do with the d-nuts cause the steering was whack right after i was done. And the pavement was dry and smokey!
The tightness is throughout, left to right? Any difference in feel when the car is not running?
Some thoughts: the PS solenoid has failed or is receiving the wrong signal and is thinking you are at a higher speed than is actually is. If there is a fuse for the steering ECU, just unplug from the fuse box for 30-seconds to 1 minute. Otherwise, disconnect the battery for the same amount of time. This will reset all the programming back to factory defaults.
exactly the same happend with my Dads LS 1st gen after I did some donuts. The Power steering only worked when the rpm was above 1100. So during parking you had to push the brake with the left foot and with the right keep the engine above 1100 rpm. It is almost 9 years ago since this happened I believe it e´was some kind of a valve in the PS system.
I'm not very familiar with the lex, but turning the wheel all the way usually puts stress on ps pumps, and pressing the gas at the same time could have done something to the pump. Did you try reseting the ecu per RA40's post?
