Default What do you think about this spoiler?

Hi!!

I just bought a rear wing for my car from another CL member and I was wondering what you guys thought of it on my car. It isn't installed yet and I was wondering if I should go ahead with the installation it also needs to be painted to match. Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,
-Joe

Thumbs down

IMO I think spoiler's on an LS look gaudy and "rice" like. The shape of the car just doesn't blend into a spoiler very well. The only Lexus that I think can get away with a spoiler would be an IS 300, but even then, when they get too big they look funny. The factory spoiler that sits flush and rounds out the trunk of the IS looks great, especially with the clear CHMSL LED brake lens. If I were to improve downforce on an LS, I would go for a good rear diffuser/body kit that has an AMG/M like appearance. They look classy/expensive and are actually functional. Besides, extreme things like spoilers change in "fashion" and can make your car look old very fast. The reason LS's look so new is because the design is so classic. You ever notice those old late eighties to mid nineties Honda Accords with a funky spoiler? I can almost garauntee that in a few years, an LS with a spoiler will emmit the same kind of cheese factor. Stick to stock or stock-looking, and your LS will look good for years to come.

If I were you I'd sell the spoiler and get some nice wheels.

I look at body additions as a whole deal thing and installing a piece at a time gives the car an unbalanced look.

My thoughts in order of things to do:

window tint- which you have
lower
wheels (lowering and wheels are ties to me.)
exhaust
body kit

If funds permit, a whole shot deal at one time.

As for spoilers, I am partial to this small lip style:

Anything more than this is too much IMO, I will have mine on in a few months hopefully.

I agree with the others that the rear wing seems a bit out of place on the LS. The air space between the trunk and the spoiler kinda gives away that verdict. It might look more acceptable on the ES. Just my $.02

no no no buddy.. that wing gotta go.. sorry man.. that is way way too GAN NI rice alike.. just take it off.. it looks better plain if that was going to go on it.. !!! thats my 2 cent..

dont mean to offend you but there is a reason why lexus engineers did not design the car with those kind of wing.. the car dont take off with blazing speed.. hahahha

A more subtle spoiler is more appropiate for the LS IMO.

I put that same spoiler on my last car, a 1999 Honda Accord. $500 later, after paint & Installation, I wished I hadn't "ruined" such a smooth, elegant design. And thats what I felt about the Accord back then!

The rounded, fabulous tailend design of your LS will not be enhanced with that spoiler. The Lip spoiler shown in this thread is more subtle and doesn't distract from the classic lines. Looks very nice.

Also it just doesn't seem right to add on large spoilers to this stature of a car. How often do we see BMW 5's or 7's, or any large Mercedes with a spoiler. For that matter, Audi's, Acura's, Lincoln's or the new Volvo's.

Its your car though, you can do whatever you want to it. Goodluck!

Ahhh no. The Wald one is perfection so if you have to have a spoiler get that but one thats made for your car if they make it.

Sell the wing before it's too late!

Stay with stock no wing approach or just like the WALD wing or even the lip looking like the Fabulous ones.
