92 LS vs. 93 LS wheel/tires
Hello there, can I put 1993 stock wheels/tires on my 92 ls without any mods?? 93 has the 225 60 16's where as the 92 has 205 65 15's...Did anything change that would affect my 92...brakes/shocks/speedo??
Thanks

A pal of mine owns two LS400's. His wife's is a 91, and he found a set of used 93 wheels and tires to install on it. I checked the tire sizes, and the 225/60-16 is somewhat bigger in diameter than the stock 205/65-15 that were on the car. His car seems fine with the wheels and tires in that size. I did some checking, and the 225/55-16 tire is almost exactly the same diameter as the stock 91-92 tire. Maybe it is a better way to go - I don't really know.
I installed 215/65-15 Michelin Pilots on my 92 and they are a bit taller than stock, about halfway to the later 16 inch wheel and tire assembly, and the car seems to handle just fine.
The speedo may be off, and no doubt the trans gets part of it shift information from the speed sensor, but the changes will be small.
