Question

I’ve seen a number of posts on this forum from extremely astute and borderline brilliant individuals (regardless of age) who are considering an SC and want specifications, differences between model years, colors available, etc.

While doing a little research of my own, I found that Sewell Lexus in Dallas (bought my SC there and they service it) had just this kind of information on it’s website: www.sewelllexus.com . If you’re interested, go there and click Certified Pre-Owned – select Model Library and it’ll bring up selection options by Lexus models – select any model (LS, GS, SC, etc.) and any year from ’96 thru 2000 (no certification on models before 1996).

There you’ll find pretty complete lists of standard features and options, a full set of dimensions, engine specifications, and performance (Lexus figures). Colors added/deleted from the prior year and feature changes made that model year are included. Too bad there are no color samples since they use a single silver/gray SC graphic as an example of the model. In the Vehicle Search segment you can scan their inventory for sample pricing – since I’ve been considering replacing my ’92 400, I looked for similar cars: found 2 ’92 SC’s, a 300 for 13K (reasonable) and a 400 for 26K (26K for a ’92 400??) Only 58K miles – but Edmunds lists a ’92 400 at 14.5 retail? Maybe it’s tricked out to run an 11 sec quarter?

BTW, they list 2 SC430s among the inventory: 76 and 80K, looks like I’ll have cut back on spending, cut out those pesky food and shelter expenditures.

Adding to our collective wisdom! Garnet92
