Default Cartrdige replace time

Anyone know the approximate time it takes to change a strut cartridge? Maybe a factory service time guide or like... Got plans but before I play weekend mechanic, knowing the approximate work time will help.

It took my mechanic 3.5 hours to do all 4.
So, figure about 5-6 hours for you, to be realistic.
Don't gey me wrong, I'm not saying that your hands are growing out of your ****. It's just the fact that non-pro will spend more time for many different reasons.

Thanks Rice-

I figure the swap will be an all day project unless it goes very smoothly.

The rears will take longer than the fronts because you have to remove the rear seat to access the top bolts. If you're only replacing the strut you'll need a spring compressor...

My 92 Ls. does not have cartrages It has struts. If it had a cartrage type system. The strut would be reused And a new insert screwed in place of the old cartrage.

Mike, You will need a spring compressor to dismantle, spring and strut, but if you got new top strut mounts you can skip that part and keep them together. You will need the spring compressor to put together the front set-up, but the back you can simply push on top mount and hold it down and have somebody start nut, because the new spring is shorter.................PM me if you have questions

rybikowsky...you are right, I get stuck in auto mode.

Mike, I expect the rears to arrive any day now. Curiously, any guesses at the life span miles wise the strut mounts last? Was looking at Tire Rack and thinking about pre-assembly although I'd need to get the dust boots and bump stops too.
