An earlier posting stated the need to have the outlets on full time even with the ignition
off, to allow charging of cell phones.

Lexus tech with the highest credentials says can't be done in the options system.

Has anyone with cell phone charging needs been able to hot wire around this
problem and, if so, how so?

Many of us will thank you.

purchase a female lighter receptical socket from Radio Shack. Loose mount in a convient place like the glove box or center consol. Connect the center lead to any "hot" key off circuit (light lead) and the outside to ground. Any good stereo shop should have no problem doing this if you don't wish to do it yourself.

Thank you, jbrady. I'm going to pass the suggestion along to the Lexus Tech
to see that I don't void the warrenty. Sounds very workable and I'm tired
of a dead cell phone. Thanks again.

You are welcome. It seems like US spec cars all have the lighter socket hot key on or off. Japanese cars have it off with key off. It would be great to have the option but maybe the Japanese are worried about the battery?
