Default Suspension question-95 LS400

Hello everyone,

I have read through about 25 posts on suspension problems with the 2nd gen LS400s. I haven't found anyone with exactly the same problem yet, but I am guessing someone knows the answer to this question, so here goes:

'95 LS400
Standard suspension
98K

I have 2 problems. I believe they are related, and I believe they point to a specific answer.

1) Fairly loud creaking from the left front suspension (right front is quiet). Can be reproduced at low speeds, on turns, or when the car is at rest by pushing down at the front wheel.

2) Car is riding and sitting about 3/4" low on the left side.

I just put in new struts. Problem is exactly the same before and after struts were replaced?

Who has the answer to this riddle? Not me, that's for sure.

Thanks.

One thought: The strut hat/suspension support may be worn. If there is some play, suspension travel will allow the spring to slightly shift causing metal on metal rub/creaking. The reduced ride height may be a symptom of the suspension support.

Re-check that the springs are indexed into the mounts.

Default solution

The solution turned out to be replacing the lower control arm. The bushing was worn, and was creating the metal-on-metal creaking and affected the ride height on that side. Parts were $239/ea and labor was $100 to replace both sides. Also, it needed to be re-aligned after the procedure. I hope this helps someone.

Thanks!
