Default New owner - passenger seat problem

Hi, just picked up my new (to me) 2007 LS460l and loving it, such a smooth and powerful car.....but on the journey from the garage my partner found that the heated passenger seat didn't get hot.

Ive been searching the fourms looking for clues as to what could be wrong and am starting to piece ideas together but need a little extra help:
  • Should the two buttons on the side of the passenger seat-back to control recline and position only be operational when there is nobody seated in the passenger seat?.... because mine work even when someone is sitting there.
  • I read somewhere that if you put heated passenger seat on with nobody sitting in it, it turns off after 10 mins... is that right?
My thinking is that maybe the discriminating sensor is faulty in the seat. I am going to check if the heated seat gets warm in the first 10 mins after starting the car in the morning to determine if the relay and heated elements in the seat are operational at all.

Any other thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks!!

Welcome to Club Lexus, and congrats on your new car!

I also have an '07. I can tell you that the two buttons on the passenger seat do operate whether there is a passenger seated or not. As to the seat heater turning off, it does not. My wife is constantly turning it on and a day later when she isn't with me I'll notice after an hour that the seat heater is still on because the **** was never turned off.

If the seat isn't getting hot, the first thing I would check is the fuse. You can find its location in your manual.

Thanks for clearing that up... saved me going off on a wild goose chase! I'll check the fuse in daylight.

I was curious about this feature in my car. In the 2013+, the temp control **** has a stop marked Auto, which the 2007-12 don't have. I leave the controls in Auto setting. Maybe because of this, the passenger seat does not heat unless it is occupied, which is a good thing. I haven't checked whether the empty seat heats up if the control is not in Auto setting.
