Buying a 2007 LS460L w/ Executive pkg.
Hey everyone,
Looking for some guidance as to what to look for when purchasing this beauty. I'll be taking it to Lexus for them to look at it, however I don't think the safety will have them look into some of the issues I've read. Ex: air suspension, control arms, struts, wheel bearings, valves, etc.. anything other then what is noted in
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...ml#post8075286
The vehicle is a 2007 with 126,000km, one owner since new, and all service done at Lexus (uploaded a couple pics) located in Ontario, Canada
What to look for and request from the Lexus service department to check out before I purchase privately?
Thank you and looking forward to everyone's feedback
Cheers,

I would ask for:
1. a compression check
2. Struts (leaks)
3. Control arms
4. Service history if any (recalls completed)
5. Water pump leaks
6 Battery condition
That's all I can think of. Just make sure that you'ere not getting this check done by the selling dealer if that's who you're buying it from.

The vehicle is almost ten years old and one can expect some imperfections or problems regardless if all the services were done by Lexus.

Make sure the massage system, video monitor, footrest, etc all work in the back seat. It's a unicorn option that is expensive to diagnose and fix.

Good idea to have a Lexus dealer check it out. However, if the car was regularly serviced by a Lexus dealer, most likely you are buying a well maintained car.

I thought I posted on this thread already ....
Anyways I was very interested in this car also, called the dealer a few times, I was very tempted to get this one as well but they wouldn't budge on the price very much
I ended up putting a down payment on another one , im picking it up in 2-3 weeks
I found an amazing FREE site that checks the vin of your car and reports back with 15 pages of various info including its service history , it really put me at ease as mine seems to have been to the dealer and should fo had any necessary recalls done already

Also look for crack in the wood panel, test the rear and side sunshade mechanism (my first exe package ls had a side sunshade that would pop back in), and also check if you hear weird noise coming from the glove box when you start the car (like squishing noise) and if the temp reset after the car is restarted after a while. That last one might indicate the owner or a Lexus tech broke the air filter door arm by not putting the car to recirculate before changing the filter. Also check for excessive wear and tear on the steering wheel leather and passenger seat. Also check if the dash start getting sticky as regular ls460 don't have leather dashboard. Check if the belt metal have been banged on the door, and sometime foot scrape with the door speaker when getting out of the car. 12v battery can easily be tested on these car, dunno if its the same for the regular ls but on the hybrid leaving the car into acc mode for more than a few minute would drain a considerable amount of juice and the car would start behaving erratically after that, like sound system light blinking and proximity sensor beeping for nothing. Good luck

You simply drive it (make an appointment) into a Lexus dealer and have them do a PPI (Pre-Purchase Inspection). It'll cost you but I'd rather spend $150-$200 for peace of mind than not. Most dealers will let you take the car in for inspections wherever you like within reasonable distance. If you're considering a vehicle from a dealer that won't let you get the car inspected wherever you want, simply walk.
