Putting 18 inch chrome wheels on my car

I'd consider a 255/45/19 (if it's available) vs going to the 50 series. The 255 will give you a little more width and a slightly beefier sidewall.
Im planning on buying Continental DWS06 tires in 245/40/20 & 275/35/20.

The 255/45/19 will give a 4.5 inch sidewall that is 4 mm better than the stock 245/25/19 (4.34") but not as good as the stock 235/50/18 (4.625") or the 245/50/19 (4.8") I was considering. But the P7 Cinturatos are available in the 255/45/19 size, so I will keep this in mind. Thanks!

I too would stick to stock sizes. Having to go to a sportier tire vs better touring options in the stock size would negate any benefit imho. My guess is the Pirellis in your size would help.
Are you you unhappy with the ride now? What PSI are you running?

My tires are at 34 psi, so I could lower a bit as per your suggestion. My ride is fine now. But I wouldn't mind an even cushier ride. So don't you think getting P7 Cinturatos in 255/45/19s would result in a better ride than in 245/45/19s? I guess Lexus engineers spent a lot of time arriving at the optimum tire sizes for the OEM wheel sizes (18/19 inch), so maybe I should stop second-guessing them.

Definitely lower the pressure to 31 or so, will make a big difference.
It might, but simply lowering the pressure on the OEM size tires will do that too...

I have them in that size & they are amazing even when down to the wear-bars! They offer a comfortable ride with predictable handling characteristics. Further, Continental is a very good outfit and that's rare these days. They took car of me with a custom tire size problem when TireRack couldn't.

Yep. Looks really good. First time I've seen these wheels on a black car and they look sharp. I've only seen them on mine, a white one.

I agree about chrome wheels on black car, precisely my sentiments , and why I am hoping to make the switch!
Aznracer, the split-seven spokes on the 19s look very nice in chrome, can you please post a side view? What are your winter tires?

A lot of people feel this way. Consider, an quality oem wheel is made by the same company that makes the ones in the back of a particular models brochure. For instance Enkei, BBS, and AMG wheels are all both factory fit and aftermarket. I'm no fan of cheap wheels, but a quality wheel or a forged type is good. Wheels made using some high-technology method are my faves

It's not a quality thing at all, there are aftermarket wheels that are way higher quality than OEM wheels. I just don't like the look, prefer the all OEM look.

That's why I always keep the stock wheels in the garage. They go back on before I trade in or sell the car. Even the most expensive aftermarket wheel will bring around zero additional value when you get rid of your car.
