Just picked up a 2013 LS 460 on Sat. The BSM system doesn't seem to want to work. The button won't even turn on and go green when pushed. Is some thing that would still be under warranty? Car has 34k miles on it. Thanks ahead of time for any input.
On my 2013, the BSM system stopped working as well, but I received an error message each time I tried to turn it on. Dealer fixed it by repositioning one of the park sensors and replacing the master circuit (or something to that effect). Covered under warranty, yes. Hope this helps!

Sorry to hear that you are having such a problem immediately after purchase. Was BSM working when you test drove the car? If you have BSM, your car should also have the rear cross traffic alert (RCTA) that detects approaching traffic when backing the vehicle. Both BSM and RCTA use the rear and corner sensors. You can test whether RCTA works, as well as whether your vehicle detects obstacles when backing out. If these features work, your rear sensors are all functioning correctly, and the problem could be specifically related to the BSM switch. I can't recall offhand whether there is any user-controlled vehicle setting for the BSM. Check the owner's manual carefully.
I would take the vehicle back to the dealer you bought it from. They should fix it for you. If the problem is a random equipment failure (like droclex's car), the 50K/4 yr new car warranty should cover it. On the other hand, if it is a problem that was caused by some unreported accident and faulty repair, a Lexus dealer may not fix it under warranty. Good luck.
