After reading the story and seeing the pictures, I told my cousin (who owns a body shop, bought my '08 from him) about the totaled car. He just texted me a picture with a headline "And she's ready"....

He bought the car at Copart, received it on Tuesday and is driving it home today! He was shocked the insurance company totaled the car. There was hardly any damage!

What an incredible story! Your cousin struck the mother lode!! It's great to know that the car is running just fine. I forgot how much it was listed for on Copart. Any one remember???

Greg, you are probably feeling very wistful and a bit sad now. This was your baby. Well, I think given the circumstances, you did the right thing. At least, it is good to know that someone was able to give the car a new lease on life, rather than being scavenged for parts.

Stasek, pass on my congrats to your cousin. Is he planning to keep or sell it? I know it's a minor thing, but the rear quarter panel is still off, but your cousin should be able to get it all looking perfect in no time.

He might keep it, but I'm sure if a right offer comes in, he won't hesitate to sell it. He currently has 1 or 2 LS460s that are waiting to be fixed (he purchased a junk titled LS for parts, so it's just a matter of time). He tried to convince me to sell my '08 and get this one - I do LOVE the light interior (as opposed to our black one), but I don't think the Mrs would like to go through the hassle.

I would love to buy it back, but I have way to many things going on right now. I have to find a Mercedes Sprinter to buy, I'm buying another property, and I have trips to Costa Rica and Texas planned this year. Plus I'm holding out for a 13. I'm just happy as hell to know she is still alive and running. I tried following the sale on COPART, but I ended up getting busy. Its so cool to see something you cared about so much to continue on. Thanks for letting me know. What a damn story this is.

I figured you'd enjoy it😄. I'm trying to convince my sister to buy the car. We'll see how it goes.

It really makes me happy. I spent so much time washing, waxing, and taking care of that car. It is awesome to know it is repaired and still alive. I was mad that I missed the auction of it. I felt I wouldn't know what happened to it. It's great to know she'll get another home. It only had 87k miles on it. New tires, the rims were newer and in great shape. (other than the bent one). Control arms were great. It really only had an issue with the door lock on the drivers door, and the door handle was repaired on the drivers door as well. I put felt in the dash up front because when it got below 57 degrees the dash would creak a bit. It helped. I may actually have another key at the house as well. If someone in the family buys it let me know and I'll send it to you. (I have to look first). If your cousin has a donor car, have him replace the door motor on the drivers side, and the interior door handle.

Thanks for sharing this. Honestly it made me happy.

(If my EZPASS is still on the window you can throw it out)
