Default Why no Lexus RES or RES+ for 2010-2105 LS460 models????????

This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. I got a notice from a Lexus dealership about the special pricing on their Lexus RES and RES+ (Remote Engine Start) accessories and their installation.
I was tempted to have it done but didn't see the LS model listed. I called parts, and the guy said there was no part number for the LS460. I thought that was strange. I called several other dealerships and got the same reply.
Finally, I call Lexus Res+ about this. Even their website shows compatibility!!!!! I told her how ridiculous it is that a kit is available for most Toyota models but not for Lexus' flagship sedan.
I told her that I would like to speak with a supervisor or manager about the reasoning, and she said I should get a call back within a day. It's been over 3 weeks, and I'm still waiting...

Are they just too lazy to make one? Is it too complicated for their technicians to come up with an accessory?

It's sad when I am a passenger in my friends' cars and see 3 dimensional navigation and many other 'space age' advancements that may one day filter down to Lexus, possibly even the LS. We are not talking about rocket science here. Improving the navigation system's graphics could be included in the LS460 navigation update. Even the backup camera's functionality on the new IS model is a marked improvement over the lowly $72,000 to $120,000 LS. Are you going to tell me that to update the LS' is more than updating code???

WHY IS THE LS THE ONLY MODEL THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE RES+ ACCESSORY OPTION??????????
Utter stupidity... maybe on my part for accepting this kind of treatment from a company that should appreciate its high end purchasers. I have had an LS since 1994 and am tempted to make it my last Lexus unless they get their act together.

I have the same feeling too. I was mad when the technician told me that he can't do remote start on my 2013 LS F-Sport. He said the base model is compatible but not the F-Sport or any model that has Navigation with Enform. Same as my IS250 F-Sport. I bought these cars because the nice options and luxurious features. Yet, he told me that I can't have remote start, even aftermarket ones because it's too luxurious. Guess I should have bought the base model. What a joke!

My LS460 has a remote start, and remote start through the Lexus enform remote app. What year is your LS?

No clue why the remote start isn't compatible with the F Sport model, I'm sure it actually is. Thats not an LS thing, across the line they say the remote start isn't compatible with the F Sport. The wallet flat key isn't compatible with the F Sport, etc.

My 2014 LS460L also has remote start installed on the new vehicle by the Lexus dealer.

I have no direct experience with this issue (have the "old" RES on LX and no interest in remote start for my LS).

I will say that it doesn't help when (1) dealer and Lexus staff don't always have a clear and consistent understanding of what is/isn't available, (2) Lexus websites (for customers and dealers alike) don't always show consistent information (FWIW, I've been observing this for the 10+ years I've been with Lexus... terrible integration of Info Systems; Honda was way ahead of them a decade ago) and (3) differences (and the shift) between RES and RES+ have not been adequately explained and marketed, predominantly relying on the nuanced '+', and further exacerbating the confusion for dealers and staff at corporate.

Beyond the OP's valid point, the whole F-sport thing only adds to the frustration, I'm sure, especially when no clear rationale is available (never mind actually explained).

I do know that a few aftermarket companies do make a kit for my LS460. I'm not sure about the 2014 models, however it might be a different scenario with your year. I was told by Lexus that there isn't a 'kit' for the 2103 LS460. So, I assumed they meant 2010-2015.

The 2013 you're kind of in a hole, no RES+ or enform remote. 2014-2016 has functionality.

I guess it's the F-Sport only models that isn't compatible with the RES. And maybe because of the year too. Oh well, that sucks!

I have remote start and can use an app to do it from anywhere in the world..plus more features for under $400 or so. DBALL and VIPER Smart Start and you'll be good. You can still use your keyfob to start car too...so there is hope. I have a 2012

CJITTY - Does your engine shut down when you open the door to get in, after remote starting?

This issue has been discussed extensively on the Remote Start DIY thread.
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...stall-diy.html

My understanding is that if you have the OEM remote start, it will shut off engine when door is opened (as happens in my car). Maybe using Enform to remote start can override this, I don't know.

However, if you install one of the aftermarket remote starts, then the engine will not shut off when the door is opened, but one has to use the key fob that comes with the aftermarket device to start the engine. You could also use an App to remote start, but I wonder if there is a monthly subscription fee (similar to Enform+).

One CL expert to consult is Shibumi1, who has done a bunch of installations.

I have Viper 5906 with Smart start 350 on all my cars but these two Lexus F-Sport. Some of them use idatalink, some use DBall2. But, again, I can't do anything of that on the F-Sports. This sucks!!!!

Yes and that's ok..my goal is to get car cooled down or warmed up depending on season especially at work. I have a 10 minute walk to get to my car which is in a controlled access area. Before I leave my office I open the app and start car. Hit the restroom, grab laptop and start walking. .my car is ready to go..especially in really cold or hot days..besides my air suspension controller..it's my favorite mod
