So I guess Lexus will cover the brake actuator up until Dec 31, 2017 (unlimited mileage). After Dec 31, 2017 it's 10 years after the date the vehicle was made or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first.

For someone like me mileage is becoming an issue, so if mine doesn't fail before Dec 2017, I'm out of luck.

Sounds pretty good to me...the second biggest problem these cars have is now essentially covered.

Wow that's fantastic, you just saved yourself around $3,700 bucks. Let us know how they handle this at the dealer...any problems with them warranting this, etc.

Note that this is specifically only for diagnostic fault codes/warning lights that fall within their limited range. I'm pretty sure they won't replace the actuator for "clicks" which is what 99% of the complaints on this forum have been about.

I agree 100%. If you go in there with anything else than the warning codes/abs lights, they aren't going to be replacing your $3,700 brake actuator (unless you're friendly with the service writer and he's good with his pen).

I just got my letter in the mail today, basically if I'm reading it right I'm covered until Dec 2017...after that I'm covered for ten years of date of production or 150,000 miles, which ever comes first. If mine is going to break it had better break before Dec 2017...because I'll be well over the mileage and age criteria after that.

Kind of strange that basically I could have 500,000 miles on it and they'll fix it as long as it's before Dec 2017, but won't after that. But I'll take it, the way I see it...they just eliminated the one major issue these things have (I don't consider the control arms to be anywhere close to major).

Lexus master tech here,

There must be a code stored in the ABS computer, I.E. a light or message on your dash for us to be able to warranty your ABS actuator. Just having a clicking noise (even though we know it's an issue) is not a justification for us to warranty it according to the warranty extension.

Kind of confused now since you mentioned the click is an issue? My car had that click the minute I drove it brand new off the lot. Is it an "issue" even if it throws no codes? Do new actuators eliminate that solenoid click?

What is the actuator? Is it the brake assist?

@ NotADood,
Does a typical OBDII reader pick up a code from the ABS computer?

My dealership has told me in the past that they could not find a problem? I only get the dash lights intermittently.

My car had these codes 3 years ago about the anti lock brakes "C1203, C1336, C1345, C1392" and they had to do something either re-learn or re-calibrate with the computer to clear the codes.
Are those codes still stored in my car computer?
