Apparently the term for this kind of work is called "simcon" (simulated convertible?)

If you google, "florida simcon tops", you'll get about 657 trillion hits. LOL

Took the words right out of my mouth! This reminds me of the "Park Lane" and "Presidential" aftermarket customizations done to the Mercury Grand Marquis, which looked just like this (different color, though - typically blue).

Default No humps

Lexus doesn't really have the heritage/cachet to support the embelishments or coachworks as seen on Caddy's, Buicks, and Chrysler 300's. The Toyota President gets it; a car should excite the senses/emotions.

Not for me!

In three years Lexus may offer this top as an option....... Or a dealer installed option.

Since they followed MB into the panorama roof, a Landaulet is within reason

Here's a gold kit about a week after I bought my '97 LS400 Coach Ed. back in '09.

I don't like carriage tops however It really depends on how it's implemented with the right color, matching interior and wheels. The top is also not vinyl, it's high quality fabric and there are no gaps.
If it didn't look the part I would have walked. The car gets a little more attention then I would like.

I agree, the black top on white looks less tacky and more elegant than the white top on mica red. Still, it is an acquired taste. The metal strip with rivets across the back is not appealing. There should be a more elegant solution.

I agree with you on that one point. I have planed to eventually remove the strip and replace the philips screws with high quality black torque screws that are counter sunk.
