Break pads wear LS460 sport
Hi there,
I have a 2012 LS460 w/sport package. Purchased CPO 3 months ago. Now, 3600 miles later, break pads light came on. Dealer wants $1100 of the set. Seems too soon for a CPO car. SA explained the min is 6mm to CPO and I am at 3MM now. Is this logical to go through 3mm in 3K miles? Something doesn't add up... He was telling mr the brembos eat up more pads, but honestly I mostly downshift in hard breaking anyways and am pretty easy on breaks. Would love some quick input as car is at dealership now...
Thanks!

Just changed my pads this weekend. Bought some TRW brand on ebay and changed them myself. Pretty easy... There are DIY on this site to help.
1 beer and 60 for the pads... saved me over 1000 from what you're getting quoted...

Did you pull the service history from https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/home before you bought the car?
I just picked up a '12 LS460 Sport, and there were a few complaints by the original owner regarding squeaky brakes. Service history shows when they were replaced.
I am not certain if the the CPO work would be listed in the Service History, but your local Service Director should be able to figure it out.
And as others have said, do not pay the dealer to replace the brakes, it's gonna cost you an arm and a leg. Lexus brakes are very easy to work on, I did all 4 rotors and pad on my LS400 in less than 4 hours at home.
