New toy.
I know it's not a Lexus but I thought I'd share anyway since most guys here are motor heads in the first place, and we all like big sedans or else why else would we be here.
I also want to mention that a big part why I love my LS is, my prior ownership of a Mb w140, S500. Anyone who has driven that car back in the day knows how special the ride is . Today's LS does all that and much more, which I found out when I test drove an LS. I fell in love instantly.
I'm an 80s kid, and my all time favorite from that era was always a w126 Mb.
735i was second choice, and then Jaguar XJS.
I spent a few years looking on and off for a right car to come along, from a good owner, records and good upkeep.
What I ended up with is a 1990 420SEL, silver with dark blue interior.
1990. 109k miles. 2 owner car. 2nd owner was great and we still talk, but the bonus is this. Through records I was able to contact the original owner and we had a good conversation about his former car as well. How often does that happen??
Anyhow, I'm in love with the car, we'll all three of them. My Ls460, 92 Lincoln Mark VII and now this 420sel.

Yes, looks nice. I have a couple friends who own classic MB's.
BTW, you need to update your sig now!

I had a '90 560 sel that I enjoyed driving. I had it for over 10 years and put over 150K miles. Black with a grey interior. I have a few problems but overall very reliable. It was big, solid, heavy and a head turner. Definitely a true highway sedan and a true classic that still get my attention when I see one. It's my favorite MB body style.

Thanks. The car is very solid on the highway and quiet as well. I'd say as quiet as an LS. Its extremely simple inside and out and I love that. Overall a very elegant car in and out. Compared to today's bloated luxury cars this one almost feels mid sized, yet there is no shortage of leg room up front or back. W140 is a much better car, but I already had that, plus the LS fills that place for me. 420 is a bit sluggish around town but the overall character is very strong. I plan on having it for a long time, taking it on long drives alone or with family. I would have gotten the Sec version of it if I was single, but four doors allows me to take the family out for a cruise as well. Love spending time with family, love driving, so those two have to be combined.
As for parking, we recently bought a house out on Long Island. So storage is not really a problem, but I am reaching my rational limit. My 3 cars, plus wife's new Accord.

Love it man!! I've always loved the older big Mercedes. How is the interior leather on the car? I recommend to do a leatherique treatment on the interior. I always use it to restore the leather since I don't know what treatment previous owners did, I'm amazed at how it can improve the leather.

Awesome! One of the managers at my office used to drive these when they were new and he raves about them.

I remember my mom had a Light Blue over Dark Blue 560SEL back in 86... I still wish we had kept it. As a dealer I've had a bunch of them and a nice W126 is a fantastic car, IMO the best S class ever built.
