Default '11 LS460 Door Panel Fade

Took it into Lexus and they said they'd send in a request to headquarters for replacement. Just wondering what my chances of replacing them (all 4) are. Slim to none???

Can you post some pictures of this fading?

No I can't. Dealer put something on them to shine them up (after I told them not to). It's the lower portion of the panels.

The surface of the plastic, or whatever it is, just has no sheen to it. No scuffing so I guess it's just the surface. Looks crappy unless some type of dressing is applied which doesn't last.

I'd have to see pictures to know if that's something normal or not. Not sure what "sheen" you're looking for. That material should appear matte from the factory.

Thanks. The only way to describe the damaged areas is to say they look weather beaten, very dull with a rather significant sun damaged look. The dealer agreed completely that they are not supposed to look this way. The car spends about 99% of its time in the garage so the sun is not a factor. None of the other parts of the car are like this. They've been like this for some time now and I should have taken the car in as soon as I noticed the problem.

I frankly doubt they'll do anything about it but you never know. Just thought perhaps someone else might have been thru this. Most guys probably apply dressing to their panels which masks the problem but I've never been a fan of doing this.

I don't apply dressing to any of my panels either.

If they won't replace them there are options, they can be re-dyed, etc.

Well, they tell me they're going to replace all 4 door panels at no charge. They said it just takes a while, months in some cases, to get them from Lexus. I guess they must be having a problem with these panels.

Great to know Lexus came thru. It could be a small batch of door panels with this issue due to defective materials. Your problem reminds me of the melting dash and door panels that some owners reported.

I didn't ask but I wonder if they're doing this as I'm still under CPO warranty. (I didn't want to ask any questions when I heard the decision, lol).

Sorry, but they replaced the panels yesterday and I'll pick it up today. When I dropped it off Tues., I did ask the rep if they replaced the panels because I'm still under CPO warranty and he said that had nothing to do with it. He added that he was shocked Lexus replaced them as he had never seen them do it before except on much newer cars. These panels go for about $2K a pop plus labor for the install. The full panels were replaced I'm told including all modules, etc. I guess they'll give me a copy of the bill.

Wow, that was quick, and you thought it might take several weeks or months. Hope your problem has been solved!
