AWD System in LS460 - "Primarily" RWD or FWD?
Hello,
This topic has likely been discussed before, but is the AWD system in the LS460 "primarily" rear-wheel-drive or "primarily" front-wheel-drive, under normal, non-slippery road conditions?
When I drive my "new to me" 2013 AWD on dry roads, it feels like a RWD setup.
Does anyone have the detailed specifics on this AWD system?
Thank you!

From this article: http://pressroom.toyota.com/article_...rticle_id=2024
"The AWD versions of the LS 460 and LS 460 L utilize a drivetrain almost identical to their hybrid counterpart, the LS 600h L. The AWD system features a highly compact center TORSEN® limited-slip differential that distributes drive torque between the front and rear wheels. In normal driving conditions, the front and rear torque distribution ratio is set at a rear-bias 40:60, which aids agility. The system can instantly and optimally vary torque distribution between 30:70 and 50:50, depending on driving conditions, thus helping to ensure excellent traction performance and driving stability."

caha14, thank you for the link to the Press Kit (I'll post a separate thread on it).
I wonder what other cars use the "TORSEN® limited-slip differential" which we have in the LS460. I would think some other Lexus models use the same AWD setup?
I read somewhere that the 2006 - 2012 IS250 AWD uses a different (more effective?) AWD setup.
If anyone has additional info on the exact model TORSEN® limited-slip differential we have, please post.

Lexus sedans (and the RC) have a unusually robust AWD system for a sedan, even mores in the GS, IS & RC. They're excellent in the snow (as is the AWD LS).
