Default New to Club LEXUS / ls 460 owner

Club Lexus I’m a newmember here coming off BMW’s since 2001.. got fed up with just nonsense itemsgoing wrong on these BMWs so I ditched it and picked up this beauty ….2007 blackls 460 with 48 k on the dash. Maryland car , 1 owner and had a great servicerecord. I can say this Lexus ls460 is adream and I love the car . I’m new tothe Lexus scene since I have been driving BMWs for quite some time during thoseyears I was able to find invaluable advice and great mechanics on similar boards for BMW . Ihope to be able to find the same here for Lexus. With that said does anyoneknow of any solid mechanics in this area? Im going to be doing breaks soon and not sureif I will do them myself or if there is anyone out there who has great pricesfor good work? If so I’d be much appreciative of that info . Also car has 48kon the dash I’m into keeping my vehicles in top working order so any otheritems LS owners have done maintenance on or to look for is great info . Thanksfor anyone’s insight – Tyler

Welcome to Lexus and I hope the LS460 treats you way better than the BMW.

Welcome to Club Lexus Tyler! It sounds like you got a great car, a 2007 with only 48K on the clock. Congrats and I wish you good luck with it. Post some pics when you have a chance.

Just wait until member roadfrog reads this, he's a converted bimmer driver.

We have many members in your area. I'm sure you'll get some good recommendations.

Welcome Tyler. Of course you didn't get an LS460! Not until you show us photos! Then we'll believe you. ;-)

Seriously gratz on the car. Hope you'll find pleasure driving the Lexus flagship automobile. It's an 07 so you have the right concept that things will need to be done as you go along. But compared to my neighbor and her 5 series Beemer, it should be a piece of cake. She has a loaner car in her garage every other week.

Post some photos and welcome aboard!

Well as Nospinzone stated, I am indeed a "recovering BMW owner". LOL I came from the ownership of a 7 Series and an X5, both of which caused me grief and angst at every turn. You made the right move and decision to switch to Lexus. I was a regular contributor to the Bimmerfest Forums, and I still receive emails and PM's from members there, asking me for help with their cars. The LS is leaps and bounds better than my BMW's were. Heck, it's better than any car I've ever owned (and I've owned MANY). Your 48k mile ride was a nice score....it's just broken in! My 7 series was blowing blue smoke and needed major engine work by the time it hit 48k miles. My LS is over 100k miles and has only required a water pump.

You've come to the right place here at CL, great people and a wealth of fantastic information whether your a DIY'er (like me), or just seeking other info. However, I agree with RZ.....no pics.....never happened! :-)

Search the forum a bit. There has been great discussion about brakes and if you should do them yourself or pay for someone else. The guys are great on hear and help people take on tasks they have never done before. If you have ever changed your brakes before on any car, any car, then I say you would do it. This car is the easiest of any car I have done before. But search around and do a bit of reading. Make yourself comfortable here, or better yet, go sit in your new ride and read more forum topics !

As Unsober stated, as far as DIY brake work goes, our LS's are as easy as it gets. No surprises.
