Exclamation 2013+ Infotainment Firmware Upgrade

Hello,

I have a 2013 LS460, and I am wondering the following:

1. How can I find out what my firmware version is?

2. Is it possible to "upgrade" the firmware?

I've found some technical service bulletins (TSBs) for the LS460 at www.revbase.com/BBBMotor/ but I haven't found anything conclusive.

Please note, I am referring to the "firmware version" update for the LS460, not the "map version" update, which the dealer can upgrade for a fee.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thank you

I don't know the specifics within your car's infotainment system but believe there's a place in the vicinity of the map version information that will also show firmware version. Otherwise, Techstream is the way.

Similarly, in terms of updates, while there's been the occasional Nav/infotainment issue that's captured in a TSIB and explicitly references a firmware update, more generally, the best thing is to check "live". Firmware updates come out for myriad reasons, and unlike the maps, they do not typically follow a specific schedule. Thus, dealers themselves do not know until they run a health check on Techstream and see any and all software updates available for the vehicle (including ECU calibration, etc.).

My car allows over-the-air software updates through my phone I think. I distinctly remember right after my phone synced that my screen showed an update downloading and installed (brand new car). There's also a software update screen somewhere in the menus that has an update software button. I tried updating after I found that screen but no update. I can take a picture of it when I have time.

You might search around the menus, although I'm not sure if it's available even though we have the same refresh.

I don't know if it was that, could be. I'll go take a picture of the screen later today.

I honestly don't know what this update screen is, but this is what I was talking about and is accessible by me. I don't believe it is related to Enform, although I have no idea.

This can be found in Setup > General Settings.

Please ignore my crappy mileage lol. Yes, I've been lead-footing it, haha.

Rhambler, thanks for the screenshots.

It looks like the information you're showing may only be relevant to the Generation 8 folks (2015 - 2016 model years).

That is where the tech initiates the update. Have you tried clicking "update software"?

Yeah it's not selectable. I presumed it was like that because there was no update available, but again I have no idea. However I will periodically check. I don't imagine them updating software very often, but again I'm clueless on that too.

Just seems weird they would have thus screen unlocked for us if it was service technician only.

Many of the nav systems I've owned have an update screen like that even though you need the dealer to do the update. I will look on my LS to see if its there.

The nav software is updated every year.

Yeah there's a separate screen for nav update.
