Considering purchasing my first Lexus to replace my BMW 750i Sport. I am a Realtor on Amelia Island so the BMW is not exercised with our 45 mph speed limits.

At the moment I am drawn to a 2013-14 460L with beige or flaxen interior. Want the ML Audio and a few more options. L/Certified is very interesting to me! Love the luxury interior of the Lexus and AC seats/environment.

From past buying experiences, I am thinking the 2013's should drop with the new year coming soon? It seems that the 12's are usually about $10K less than similar 13's. Scan CarGurus, Lexus etc. Have the ability to buy as Mannheim Auction Bidder. Is there a month of the year where previous model years see an above-average price drop?

Prices go down over time in general, but remember that the 2013 is still identical to the current new body style. You will always see a big premium over a car that is not identical (the 2012). The big hit to 2013 values will come when the all new LS comes out.

SW15LS is right on. I don't expect 2013+ models to take a huge hit until they become NOT the newest model (style). You may have to wait until the redesign comes out (a year or two?). Under any circumstances, I would not settle for a pre-2013 unless you're okay with the (somewhat) dated technology and really need to save money.

As much as I've loved Lexus, I wouldn't have considered the 2007 - 2012 LS460... that's why I waited a significant amount of time for the prices to drop on the 2013+ models.

On a related note, I've continued to keep an eye on the pricing of the car I purchased... it's been approximately 5 months and I see that the prices have gone down about $3,000 - $4,000 on the 2013's with an identical configuration.

jasone36 What 2013 did you choose colors/options/miles? Did you get a Lexus Certified?

From past buying experience (was a 3-year investor for small Mercedes, BMW, Porsche Dealership) , most makes show a price decrease every few months at wholesale and 1-2 times a-year decreases that are are enhanced (sweet-spot).

SW15LS is right that until the ship date announcement of the new designed LS they will not likely take a major hit.

However, I wonder how many were leased in 2013 or 14 that may hit the market soon in higher numbers?

I guess the market will tell us?

You are both going about this process in exactly the way I wish I had done a few months ago. I am very happy with my purchase, but waiting a few months would have definitely helped as prices have dropped by at least 5-6K for the rare vehicles with my specs. Having said that, there is no way to know what lies ahead unless you have someone very knowledgeable who is willing to help you with information or more.

I know of a couple of folks on CL who work at Lexus dealerships. One of them rld14, is the used car manager at a Lexus dealership, and has been exceptionally helpful with information and insights. I hope he sees this and responds to your queries. You can also try sending him a PM.

In line with my thinking, saw a higher mileage 2012 with ML/Nav sell at a Porche dealership for ~$26k which I thought was a solid price a while back...and to me, a "big enough" price difference compared to a 2013.
