CarGuy89: I'm using the 128GB Ultra Fit and after re-evaluating it, it may do for a while. I have some 1500 CDs but I'm not certain that I'll transfer them all.

As far as the speed factor goes, I'm not sure that you will see any benefit with more speed esp since you are playing back a file rather than performing constant file transfers. I think your current solution is probably the best.
I can't believe cars of this age still use HDD lol I worry about this esp since I am in MI with not only cold weather, but horrible roads. Both those have to be hell on a conventional spinning disk!

Dryrunner: 600 movies?(!) I doubt I've seen that many in my life. I also doubt that you've heard of most of what I have, which is modern jazz. Here's a sample: Xploding Pastix; Pat Metheny Group; Garag Mahal; Ozric Tentacles; Eivind Aarset; Cantoma; Four80East; Nils Petter Molvaer. Oh, and yes, I have a Pink Floyd disc or two.

I've done it with a 2TB hard drive on the usb of a subaru, it should be exactly the same for the lexus as far as you are using the oem usb input. First you need to get a Y usb cable in order to separate the power signal from data or else your drive might not work of it will be very unstable: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/USB-2-0-A-to-...YAAOSwFnFV8MmY
Then you plug one usb (need to be the one with the power signal - just switch end if it's not working) into a power adapter outlet for car (plug one into the socket just next to the usb) and the other end into the usb of the car. But first and this is very important, you need to format your drive using a special tool to break Fat32 32gb barrier (never tried other format on the lexus but usually those device like tv usb and car only support fat32): http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/ind...?guiformat.htm
Although it was working flawlessly there was so much music available that it became hard to navigate because the media browsing front end of the car wasn't designed to handle so much music (Ex: sometime I had to press down for a very long time to reach an album).

Thanks, Vansibel! Excellent solution. Fortunately, my 2013 LS has voice commands that allow me to speak the artist or album so it minimizes the need for protracted searching.

Can't speak for the iPod; it works perfectly using music stored on the USB drive. When you select your voice-command button does the option to play an album or artist show on the screen?
