Default Lowering and Wheels/Tires Options LS460s

new owner of a LS460 AWD- looking to see what are my options and what other folks are running and recommend.

First off I use this car daily- my little kids sit in the back seat and have wife as well most of the time so it needs to be comfortable.

Currently- Running at 18' with stock setup I think the tire size are 235s/18, in my last ls430(sports) I had the D2 coil overs RS series with stock chrome 18s and I liked that setup a lot, it was a nice balance with comfort and sport.

This LS460 handles like big boat but its pretty comfortable after like 35 mins into the car my kids are sleeping .

what I am thinking.

1) keep stock wheels and get wider tires 245s + D2 coilovers
2) upgrade to 19" Chrome/sports ls600 or 2013+ ls460 wheels. ( i don't like f-sport wheels)/ + D2 coilovers
3)just get wider tires and wait for a year or 2 get the 2013+ ls460s with the Fsport.

Finally how do you guys compare the Fsport vs aftermarket suspension in the LS460s- My perfect setup would be a ls460 L on coilovers.

Appreciate your help !

I have a 2007 460L and hated the OEM air suspension. OEM is too floaty...like a boat. I replaced it with aftermarket Air Runner OTG and love it. If the wife drive it and she doesn't complain that it bumpy, rough, etc, that mean it's good. she is my judge if it's a good setup or not.

As for wheels, if this is a daily, I would go with 20". Here is you opportunity to buy wheels and make the car your own. Why spend money to buy OEM wheels eventhough they are from a different model and year...still looks stock. I had both 21' and 22' inch wheels. Both ride really well. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply my intention of sticking to oem wheels is they don't have balancing and vibration issues but I very wheel get like vossen or something similar.
I am afraid to go to 20s since once in a while i have to go to NJ/NYC and the roads there are horrible. I messed up my really nice D2 forged 20s and even stock 18s.

Gratz on the new car. I'm pretty much a stock guy so I can't help you there. At the end of the day, it's what you want for your ride. If you're up for experimenting, then give it a whirl.

Nothing you've suggested except the coilovers is going to make a significant difference in the car's handling. It won't notice 10 mm difference in width or one inch in wheel diameter. If you don't want to go all the way to the coilovers, the best thing you can do is change the type of tire -- to a summer performance tire (in the stock size) that will have a stiffer sidewall and more grip.

I've ran 21" and 22" without any vibration or balancing issue. Steering wheels are straight.

A FYI: I realize you don't have so many options as you already have the car. A factory Sport suspension works really well in both the Normal and Sport settings. They also have forged BBS 19" wheels that are very strong. I discovered this the hard way with a poorly market road change at night-in the wet- and destroyed a new tire. The wheel remained straight and true.
