Default If not P7s?

The Pirelli's are somewhat hard to get, mostly shipping delays for my local preferred shop and/or Discount guys. If I wasn't replacing with the Centuratos, any consensus on another Michelin. Just not that enthused with the Michelin beginning tread depth and wear. That said, I'm pretty much only run Michelin on my sedans, though wife put on Yokohama's on her LS 430 over Memorial Day, on short notice.

South Texas hot roads, snow not a concern. ;-)

Having the comparable Michelins now on my S560 since the P7s dont come in the size, they aren't nearly as good.

Has anybody tried Continental PureContact LS on LS460? I used these on my RAV4 when I sold the car, the tires had 60k on them.

I have installed 2 sets of the P7's on the LS. The latest set are the P7 Plus II that I installed last December. You won't get any ware close to the 70,000 miles they are rated for but I love how they handle, ride and hug the road and so I bought a 2nd set.

Since you've crossed over to the Benz a while back, what are your thoughts/issues with the car please? What year is it? I'm looking at a pristine S550 2015 now, after having nothing but LS's for 20 years (including current 08' which I've always loved and babied). Just afraid of the potential mechanical issues compared to my LS. Difference between an S550 and S560?

I've posted several updates in the Car Chat forum, I'm about 6 months in and 7500 miles. So far so good, its very different from the LS in terms of how Mercedes approaches their engineering, takes some getting used to, but if you love the LS you will love the S Class. Rides even better, even more refined, even more solid. S Class feels much more robust than the LS, more mechanical if that makes any sense. 560 has the new 4.0L V8 and has the new 9 speed auto, but 17 S550s also have the 9 speed just with the older V8 engine. 2018 was a refresh year so they have new infotainment, new steering wheel, new trim and front and rear fascias etc.

From a mechanical standpoint, I've done a lot of reading in the W222 forums on MBWorld and they really don't seem to have trouble spots that are any worse than what we see in the LS. People have replaced an air strut here or there, odd one offs here or there but really I don't think there's much to be more concerned about than there is on the LS.

VERY helpful sir. And I thank you kindly for taking the time to reply. I’m probably nuts (most that know me can/will concur…), as my LS looks and drives like new. All the things that could go wrong have been fixed, including the interior, and all the expensive stuff, under warranty, excluding brake actuator which I’ve not encountered yet at 113k miles. Plus, it’s long been paid for. So why would I drop $50k on a Benz, at only about 40k miles, along with the requisite payment? Honestly, I have no clue, other than idiocy….but you do like yours, it seems a bit more than the 17’ LSL you had.

Variety is the spice of life. There was no reason for me to replace my 2017 LS460L with my new Mercedes, other than I wanted to try something different.

I wouldn't say I like it "more" than the LSL I had, its just I had the LS for a long time and its different and I'm enjoying something different.
