Thanks for the update. I'll probably be in the market later this year. I think I will probably make the switch.
I've been happy with the Continentals. They are not quite as good in wet handling, but they wear like iron. I feel badly about the poor experience greg3852 had with them. He bought them on my recommendation. Sorry Greg.

The Hayabusa is insane. 0-180 in 18 seconds. 0-100 in 4.9 seconds. The real shocker is from 70-186. It's like nothing I've ever ridden.
Oh and on topic, I love tires!

I am not very knowledgable on tires, but I believe someone posted on a previous thread one should not purchase tires older that six months (based on DOT) number. I spoke to Tire Rack rep about the PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 ALL SEASON PLUS 245/45R19. He said they are about seven to eight months old-the last shipment was mid 2015. I thought based on popularity, these tires would have newer DOT numbers. Can someone shed some light on this please. Are seven to eight month old tires a concern for purchase?

Yeah that doesn't make sense to me either. If tires are rated 40-50k road miles and the average American drives 10-15k a few months should make any difference at all. I've bought tires, stored them and put them back on years later and the worked like a charm.

You should be fine, however you are losing extra months of life from your tires. If you drive 10-15 thousand miles a year no big deal because they will be worn out before they really run out of life. When tires get more than 5-6 years old you really are starting to play with fire. The tires may look fine but the atmosphere over time has taking it's toll on them. You may see hair line cracks in the sidewalls etc. It's one thing to have old tires on a truck you drive in the field, it is quite another to have old tires on your car when you are running 75-80 MPH down the interstate

Given the intensity of the Sun in HI I would tread lightly in running old tires at highway speeds. It might be ok to run older tires on the 4X4 while out playing in the old sugar cane fields but blowing a sidewall at 70mph will cause you to look for a new set of briefs.

I currently have the Bridgestone Turanza EL42 with 13,000 miles on them. They have been OK, but that's about it, nothing special. As always, this forum provides great advise. I am ordering he P7's today!
