Good to hear SW......is there anyway for u to switch from AWD to 2 WD? And if u did would it be rear or front wheel drive......If there is a traction issue I would like to know when it occurs. My feeling is that the tire rack testing is fairly extreme which is fine.....which would affect me if I had to make an extreme maneuver That being said I think the only way for us to discover any traction issues would be to make an extreme maneuver in 2wd ..on soaked pavement.... somewhere where it is safe to do so. Personally I dont want to throw my alignment or any tire weights......I saw on YOUTUBE someone drifting in a LS...maybe he could help us. But SW in AWD I dont think u have anything to worry about at all.

No it's full time rear biased AWD, 70% of torque goes to the rear normally, unless slippage occurs. No way to select RWD only.
The RWD LS will certainly throw the rear out if you give it full throttle while turning to the right. I'd expect it would do that on any tires.

No I don't. They don't make them in my size. My comment was in relation to traction in general. Whether I have my winter tires on, or my Falken Summer tires, I can't ever get my LS to lose traction if the TCS/stability control is activated.

Yes, they are taking them back on Thursday and I'll get the credit in a couple days. I bought the Pirellis today and are having them mounted Wednesday. Very happy, as I can't wait to get rid of these Continentals.

Completed 2nd half of a 2,200 mile road trip for Thanksgiving. Left Charlottesville, VA in misty rain on Sunday arrived home to Bella Vista in misty rain on Monday. The entire return trip was in rain. We came home via I 64 through VA, WV, KY,IN, IL and MO and then I 44 south out of St Louis. For those of you who have never driven the WV turnpike I 64/I 77 through the mountains, it is one 55/60 mph sharp curve after another. These tires hugged the road on those curves at 70/75 mph like you were on a straight away. Sunday was a 663 mile day and between the pure joy of driving the LS and the great feel of these tires it was a snap.

I'm from southern WV, so I have driven bag stretch of 64 many times, great drive. Glad to hear!

DJ...thanks for the review. Sounds like u put them through their paces. I think we have pretty much figured out this is a great tire for our cars.....the only data we need now is how they perform with 20k on them...or 30k etc. Fingers crossed.

Just wanted to update everybody, still very pleased with the Pirellis. Very smooth and quiet, no issues holding a balance, excellent snow and rain traction. I'm 3,000 miles or so into ownership.

One thing I love about the OEM Dunlap Sport Maxx 050s are the definitely the "rash guard" which looks like a deliberate bead that gives at least a 1/4" of protection. I tried to picture it but it looks a lot better in person. My question is based on reviews did anyone consider the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position RFTs? Living on an island requires me to FedEx my ties which is cost prohibitive when I can get great deals at my local Costco that include a lifetime (as rated per tire) rotation, nitrogen air and road hazard warranty. I think the added benefit of the RFTs are a nice touch if I get the added bonus of a quiet and smooth ride. Personally my Dunlaps are kinda noisy.

Yeah I know the rash guard you're talking about. The Pirellis have it to some extent, not as robust as that.
I'd never buy those tires because they're too loud, and I would never buy run flats because of the trade off in ride. For me I wanted the best riding quietest tire I could get.
