Default Is it just me or is it hard to find a used LS?

I am casually thinking about trading my 2012 VW Golf for either a 3rd or 4th gen LS. The closest decent looking one was 1.5 hrs away from me, a 2005 LS430 with 84k for $12.7k. It had paint issues and smelled of "old" person.

Is it just me or are these cars kind of hard to find? It could be my area (NW PA), downs south may be easier.

To me, it seems there are plenty good ones between $52,000 and $60,000... that seems to be the sweet spot for anything with low miles.

I was looking more at 09 - 11 for sub $30k.

You're not going to find a lot of those in your area. Like other luxury cars, most of the sales were in the biggest cities. There are plenty out there, particularly if you're not too picky about options, but you will probably have to travel a bit.

I was picky about options and traveled 800 miles (from Seattle to Sacramento) to get my car, which appeared to be the best car of its configuration available in the country at the time.

They can be hard to fine in certain areas. But you can fine them in all price ranges and options on Ebay, Cars.com, Cargurus.com, etc.

I literally just saw 3 plus mine at the same intersection. They seem to be everywhere near me, I must be hoarding them.

On a side note, I've started poking around for a new one, and all the ones I've seen are poorly equipped. They don't have many options on them at all. I refuse to get less options than I have now.

They only import about 10,000 of these to the United stated each year. So compared to a Toyota Camry, you bet they are hard to find. But you are limiting your search to a small limited area. And those years and price will limit you as I think most people are looking to hold onto that car for that price. To me, the most common cars I see for sale are the ones off lease or around 2-5 years old

A "older" LS in good condition is hard to find and if you do find one they are pricey. I looked for a 2010 and newer LS and finally settled on a 2012 CPO LS with 15k. miles........ I am very happy with the car and I jumped on it as soon as I saw it, because there are plenty of turds out there.
My suggestion is to look at Cars.com and Autotrader.com for the LS you want........ You may have to travel out of your area for the one you want BUT be realistic on price and don't wait if you find one because there are others looking for the same LS as you and they have cash in hand ready to buy.

It took us over a year to find the one we acquired last month. Started looking for 2011s but those are rare due to the Japan tsunami and then the wife took a shining to the newer grill so then we switched to a 2013 search.

The few we found at the end of last year were either asking too much or did not have the color/interior combo she wanted. Using Autotrader and other type sites I would search the whole country. Seems that Florida, Atlanta, and Houston appear to have a lot cars to compare. Prices were all over the map as well.

The 2014 we found was in Mission Viejo (over 400 miles away). There were really very few 2013 or 2014 models available. That could change in the 1st quarter of 2016 when the 3 year leases start to lapse (for 2013).

Good luck on your search......

I just bought one yesterday in Denver. LS460 2007 with 84k for $20k. Blue with Beise leather. Nav and lots of options. All dealer service records and recalls done of course. I traded my awesome 91 Ls400 in. That was a great car I will miss. It was time to step up to Bluetooth and backup camera etc. The RWD isn't a problem since my wife and I have 2 AWD SUVs also.

Has nothing to do with limiting imports. It has to do with sales numbers. They only sell about 10k of them per year. The 460 peaked in 2007 with 35k+ units. It's actually a sad thing that sales have plummeted. 2015 sales are pretty bad.

A good one is hard to find.

I shopped for a couple months earlier this year. All the good deals seem to have issues - either questionable condition, bad history or dealer scams. I spent a bit more than I wanted to, but got the car I wanted.

Don't get in too big of hurry.
