Reminds me of a couple of days ago when I was shopping for a car for my wife (Mazda and Hyundai). The advert for one of the cars said, "fully loaded". So when I called about the car, I asked if it had nav.....the reply was "no". Then I asked if it had leather.....again, "no. At that point I saw no reason to ask if it had a sunroof. LOL
LOL!!!
Too funny!
I never quite understood why dealerships use that verbage when its not accurate.
When shopping for the LS, as dal20402 mentioned, I cant recall not one ad where either "fully loaded" or some other phrase insinuating the like was used.
I had to ask a good few questions and learn what the differences were and how to find out if they were on the car(s) I was looking at.
If its not a Lexus dealership (and I've seen, sometimes, even if it is, the sales team has no clue of the options.
I also asked if it was honestly loaded because of the year, mileage and price. That's up there price-wise.
I know typically when dealing with an older car, it can be more about a mileage point rather than the options it has.
Also, I never had a problem with a "well equipped" vehicle, as that's what mine is, and it suites me just fine.
Question though:
I know you can open the trunk from the inside, but there is no way to close it other than from the button on the trunk lid, correct?

Correct. You can also grab the lid handle and pull it down, the lid will soft-close once it touches down.

And I decided to sell my LS460 because this is my daily driver
I like this truck so much that now I'm thinking about a 6 speed 392 challenger

There is confusion among some as to what "soft close" is. As Luxofreak stated, soft close means the trunk lid only needs to make contact with the latch and it will self-latch and lock (no need to slam the trunk down) and is found on every LS I've seen (unlike the soft close door option). The other is "self closing", which allows you to simply push a button on the trunk lid, and the trunk lowers with a motor and locks itself. This is an option that my car does NOT have and wish it did. My 7 series BMW had this and I really miss it.

I had same car with 90K on it and did a quick sale for 18. I love the color and would buy it again. That said it is very tough resale color. I bought a 08 in red.
How much are you asking?

my 2007 LWB with every option under the sun just turned over 36,660 miles and CarMax will only give me $20K!?!?

It is still under the platinum extended warranty and everything...

I guess i will have to extend the warranty even further and just keep it.

$20K for an 07 LWB with only 36.6K miles? Just keep it and extend the warranty. Unless you want a new(er) one.

yeah, with clean carfax and everything, the estimator i requested to speak to after i got such a low quote said that the paint work made him uncomfortable about the cars history!?!? (i had the front bumper and hood sprayed to cover rock chips!)

That being said, Lexus offered me $26k range based on a trade.

Check out these attachments (maybe there is a more accurate source?)

What unbridled B.S.
Uncomfortable... even if that was the case, the 20k is still a low ball offer.
Now the 26k from Lexus is pretty solid, and that means they'd try to turn around and sell the car for a healthy amount more.
I think its incredible how well these cars keep maintain their worth over the years.

Funny think is Lexus dealers routinely repaint bumpers and hoods for rock chips on their CPO cars. That doesn't make them "uncomfortable" lol

I can't help but wonder if there's something else going on, as a dealer offering $26K for a 2007 LS460, even with extremely low mileage, seems a tad high. How much higher than that could they sell a 2007 MY for? $28K? $30K?

It sounds like the car is in pristine condition, so that might lessen the cost of getting the car ready for sale. Since this is a trade in price, was the selling price of the car getting purchased negotiated before the trade-in was mentioned or the trade-in vale was offered? How could of a deal could OP get on a car if OP had no trade-in?

That's what they are offering on a trade, not buying it outright. They will also make a profit on the sale of the new car he buys.

Thanks for the replies all, I haven't been following this thread this weekend

I think my best option may be to just keep the car. I've contacted McGrath Lexus in Chicago, and they have given me options to extend my Platinum warranty an additional 2 years/24,000 miles on top of what i currently have!

yes the cost is just over $1000 but very worth it in my opinion. (i've already had $4k+ work done on this car by lexus all covered under the platinum warranty)

I'm on my fourth Lexus all DD's but fun? Look at a GS as I really miss mine (both).
