Default 2007 LS460 w/ 60k miles...Great price point?

Im looking to buy 07 LS460 with 60k miles and has excellent service history.
whats a good and great price point to negotiate?

That's not a lot of information to go from, but in general, I'd say a fair price would be $20-22K and a great price would be $18-20K if the car checks out all the way around.

IMO, your best bet is to go to cargurus.com, autotrader.com, or cars.com and search for 2007 LS460's with similar mileage and features. That's your starting point for determining a typical price range. I also suggest using kbb.com for pricing. Dealers might be willing to negotiate based on how long the car had been sitting on the lot.

Do the best you can to determine the car's service history. Besides written service records (if any, CarFax, and Autocheck, if you already haven't done so, register at the Lexus owner's web site and look up the online service history (for work done at Lexus or Toyota dealerships) fir vehicles you are interested in:

A car like that in SoCal seems to go for around $25k-$27 at a dealer...less from a private party I'm sure.

all services were done at lexus dealer.
looks like very well cared car.
im thinking 21k is a good price for this.

What options does the car come with? You can expect to pay a premium for a 2007 with 60K miles. Mileage can have a large impact on price. If the car comes with Mark Levinson Ned the dealer accepts $21K for it, that would be an outstanding deal! I'd ask myself why the dealer was willing to go so low on the price.

only option i see is navi w/ mark levinson package.
think that includes back up camera, bluetooth etc
it didnt have cold weather package which i wanted.

If the car is listed at cargurus.com, you might be able to see how long the dealer has been trying to sell the vehicle and the price change history (on the site). Factor that information in with how much you really want the car.

Have you checked the online service history for the car?

As mentioned before, research price on your own to see how good of a deal this is. When I was looking for a SWB LS460, I eventually decided that 2008 was the earliest model year I would seriously consider, mostly because at some point for that model year, Lexus started using laminated glass for the driver and front passenger side windows. (The LWB has always had all side windows with laminated glass.

I also thought it was possible that the 2008 MY might have been a bit more "bug-free" than the 2007 MY. The general principle is to get the most recent model year you can afford.

Sorry I don't have an easy yes/no answer for you.

07 or 08 doesnt matter to me.

right now its a toss between 2007 60k miles (excellent condition and top color choice, warm area- no rust issue) $23k VS 2007 90k miles (2nd color choice and from cold area...poss rust) $18k

thing is i plan to drive this 5-6 yrs til 150-200k. so low mileage may not be so important now. altho for 21k, it would be hands down the 60k mile one.

While I stand behind the lexus name and the LS model line, my opinion would not be this option. Buying a 8-9 year old car that you hope has a good previous owner and intend on adding 150k miles additional. As previously stated, good practice is to purchase newest possible model. If you have the cash In hand and buying the car out right, maybe a fair deal. But if I had that cash, I would be looking for something a bit newer. If you are taking out a loan, the picture at the end of loan , 4-6 year, doesn't look good. Just paid off a 15 year old car with possible 200,000 miles. And don't forget money for repairs, they will happen, and on a $80k car they will cost. Maybe this is just me, I don't think this is a great long term plan, especially if you are financing.

Go to the salesman and hand him your personal check made out in the amount of $2000. Leave the payee line blank. Tell him if he wants to sell the car today for $21,000 then go see his manager and make out the contract.

Tell him if he doesn't want to sell the car, then you'll take your check down the street to the Friggin Ford dealership because either way you are buying a car today.

It's real hard to hand that check back to you. Of course they might, in which case be prepared to walk. You can always come back another day and offer to split the difference at $22,000.

found 2008 with 60k miles from dealer and they will sell for 20k.
after 5-6 yrs driving til 120-150k miles, this car will still sell close to 9-10k.
10k lost in 5 yrs isnt so bad for this car.
i plan on paying cash.

i saw service history and seems owner kept bringing in for brake sound issue. sometimes rotors were polished and pads replaced but some no issues were found.
is this common for LS?

never mind guy thought it was one with 100k miles...

hey guys i found low mileage silver and black interior for good deal.
i dont mind silver at all but really wanted tan or light gray interior.
is black ok or should i just wait?

If your asking about colors, that is truly up to your discretion.
When I started looking, I thought I wanted a silver with the light grey interior with the grey-ish wood trim. Really, really wanted either NSM or SP, but both are very hard to come by. As you can see, I ended up with a BSP/Blk model in great condition. Apparently, my ext color-BSP is a rare color as well.
Silver hides flaws very well, black/darker colors show everything!
Lighter interior a bit harder to keep clean, but I would have easily been up for the task, thought my wife could have NEVER driven the car if it had light interior! Even with my darker interior she manages (the seldom times she drives it) to get it dirty, especially the visor. It drives me nuts!
If its a great deal, drives great, has been maintained, recalls done and you really see yourself in it, pull the trigger!
Unfortunately, due to looking at used vehicles, it will be more difficult to obtain exactly what you in search of, but not impossible. But do keep your options open, as you'd hate to miss an opportunity to get a great car, but you opt not to purchase because of the color combo (unless its simply hideous)!
