I've been getting a message on the dash that the battery on my pod is low. It says to see a Lexus dealer which I am not inclined to do. I want to know if the battery in the pod can be changed at a place like Batteries Plus?

You can change it yourself. Instructions are in the owner's manual. See page 587 http://drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/do.../sec_04_03.pdf

If you really don't wanna do it by yourself you can also have a Toyota dealer change it for you. It's around 6 bucks and change for both Lexus and Toyota. Batteries plus should also be able do it. Not sure how much they'll charge though.
It's kind of disappointing Lexus doesn't replace those batteries for free.. Audi has always replaced mine for free, and this isn't during any service - I just walk in and out with a battery.

There's a few Youtube videos and others that show how to do this. You can also check the stickies at the top of the page here at CL with tutorials. I changed mine myself (very simple) with a battery from Walmart.

Yeah, inquiring minds want to know.

You know, I figured as such, especially when attempting to put "2 & 2 together" ("easy to do", "dash saying battery was low" etc.), however, I didn't wish to assume, because...well, you know how the adage goes...
Thanks kindly for clearing that up!
And for the record: I have never heard of the fob being referred to as a "pod".

BTW Gbp, I like the positioning of your vehicle in your signature photo...Strange because I've seen someone in the LS 4th Gen forum who has a similar car, older and different color, and the photo is nearly identical...cant remember who he is though...

Ah, thank you kind Sir...
May I express the same sentiment regarding your choice of vehicle, especially the color!
A beauty!

I took the advise of the first reply and checked the owners manual page 587 which I should have done in the first place. But you know it's nice to hear from all of you LS owners. Anyway I went to Batteries Plus and purchased two batteries for $8 and changed both fobs. Yes, fob is correct but I couldn't think of it at the time. Thanks for all the replies. I've had my '08 now for 30 months after I traded the '04 and I'll never drive anything else. Next year I'll be looking for a '12. Tommy

Glad you were able to change the batteries yourself. Shortly after I bought my 08 last October, I got the same warning. Went to youtube and the Memphis Lexus service guy had a video up on how to make the change. Piece of cake. I went ahead and did both since it's so inexpensive.
