2011 RWD Sport highway trip=26.2MPG
Averaging 80, the 2011 Sport achieved 26.2 MPG. This is hand-calculated, filled up to the top of the neck each time. Running on 93 octane premium, tires inflated to 32PSI cold, 54k on the odometer. The instrument display was pessimistic at 25.0. What an amazing highway cruiser!

I drove my 2008 home from the dealer where I bought it, 800 miles in mostly 95+ weather. I averaged about 75. The car reported 29.7 mpg over the whole trip. For the first tank, that was roughly accurate. And at that point the car had several cracked control arm bushings and an alignment poor enough to eat the inside edge of all four tires.
Thank the excellent aerodynamics -- including under the car.

Good highway mileage
To FL and back from TX, I averaged ~30mpg. While cruising ~80mph, I was showing 30.5-31 mpg average. This is an '07 with 112k mi.

I think some details should be added when comparing mileage and range, such as the terrain and traffic conditions. For those getting 500+ miles on one tank, even if it's all freeway driving, I suspect this is mostly flat terrain and little variation in speed.
In my location (SF Bay Area), even with mostly freeway driving, I normally get low 20's at the most, per the car's computer. Usually, it's less, mostly because of stop and go local driving. I'd expect slightly better mileage during a long road trip, but those are rare for me.
If you rarely have to press the accelerator pedal, you're golden.

Gbp, this car is a open road beast. I believe these milages are possible. And even 500 mile a tank. I live in Colorado and can go up and down the moutain, a 200+ mile trip and see 500 miles on a tank. However, this heavy car and V8 does like its fuel for stop and go city driving. In Colorado I get high teens in city, and upper twentys on road trips, 30 possible under right conditions for parts of trip. And I have AWD.

Of course it's an entirely different ballgame in the city, where aerodynamics don't matter much and the car's heavy weight starts taking a toll. I've been lucky to make the 16 mpg city rating in town.

I average 26 mpg, and that's with mixed driving (70% highway, 30% back roads). Right now I have been doing 90% back roads with my AC on all the time and I'm averaging 24.5.
The car is an airplane on the highway...it's just so rewarding and easy to operate. And the fuel economy quietly is one of the best kept secrets in luxury automobiles. I hear the Chrysler 300 gets 28-30mpg on the highway, but that's with their V6...I want to say they too are using an 8 speed transmission now. It's all about that transmission, if it's geared for it, it will produce amazing MPG's results.

Back in July I made a run up to Omaha from Bella Vista. I had 124miles on the clock when I left and 528 miles on the clock when I pulled into Lexus of Omaha and the gas light was not on yet. That was the trip I reminded the service tech that they had not topped of my tank when I had my fuel sensor replaced in March. Got a free tank of gas out of them. Great Dealership. These cars are not only a joy to drive but fairly easy on the wallet on road trips.

I was amazed that my LS matched my Acura TL in highway mileage. I drove from Tenn. to Chicago, 560 miles on a single tank of gas. Display said I averaged 31 MPG!
My normal work week keeps me in the city and I average 14 mpg, however, I do drive for 3 weeks on a single tank of gas.

Went to LV from Corona CA last week.
26.0 mpg hand calculated on a 500 mi round trip (95-105 F), ave 75 MPH. AC on the whole time, 20 " wheels. 2 adults.
Last Nov - same trip with 4 adults - 28.5 mpg. No AC and stock 18s.
Not bad for a large cruiser.
