so I'm heart broken on my Lexus LS460L... i got rear ended a little while back and had the car repaired. they have replaced the rear bumper and repainted the back plate on the trunk lid but in the process they have dropped one of my Spec D taillights and cracked it. right now i found another issue... when i was driving yesterday.. there was a lot of rain in edmonton and then suddenly a "check Brake Systems" light appeared on my dash and i though okay it might just be a minor issue.. and then it said "Electronic Brake not available". today i was cleaning my car and i opened the trunk the first time in about two weeks and discovered moisture on my carpeting of the lexus, so i looked underneath the carpet and their was more moisture so then i look at my spare tire and there was about 2 inches of water in the trunk.... i need your guys help on this... I'm wondering if this is due to a faulty repair or what it can be from?

Almost certainly it has to be from a faulty repair. Dry out the trunk completely and then spray the outside with a hose. Open the trunk and see where the water is entering (it may help to tape some newspaper around the interior of the trunk to spot the specific location).

If you didn't have the issue before the repair, it would make sense that the "lack" of repair is causing the leakage. Take it back.

Absolutely take it back to the repair shop!
Also as Nospinezone indicated, try to see if you can identify where the leak is located for your own piece of mind in the event the shop tries to provide another diagnosis.
Also, be sure to dry the trunk out quite thoroughly, or in the even it's the shops fault, you may be entitled to a interior trunk detail job in their dime, to assure all mosistire is removed. These trunks seem to be very air tight and a mold/mildew issue could be a result from this, not to mention the potential smell, especially in these warmer months.

Most likely leaking due to the accident/repair and probably from the cracked tail light. Hopefully the problems will be gone when they replace the light for you.

Sorry to hear. I agree with what folks are saying.

If I am reading your post correctly (as it pertains to the damage from the accident), I would also think the taillight assembly is the culprit. In essence, if there are no alignment issues with the trunk lid, the weatherstripping is in place, and there was no work done welding panels, etc. (i.e., where sealant would need to be used on all seams), the taillight assembly seems like the best place to start.

just an update, i spoke with the shop and they agreed to take the car back fro a few days and find where the leak is coming from. I'm just very frustrated as the vehicle was gone for nearly 3 weeks for the repair and it wasn't done right. my issue now is do i get rid of the vehicle because of the water damage? I'm just worried that i will experience issues in the future. also is the electronic brake located somewhere in the trunk? i have the codes of C13AD, C13A3, C13AC, C13A5, and C13A6. I'm just worried the water caused the problem.

Well, someone please provide their 2 cents here, but im inclined to believe that if the trunk is leaking due to water damage, a repair that they didn't perform properly in the first place, and it has caused the e-brak to malfunction, well, shops have insurance for a reason.
I think once the issue is resolved and the e-brake issue is taken care of, you shouldn't have any further issues. What's worrying you aside from the e-brake errors?
Also, make sure that you get everything documented and in writing in order to CYA. In this situation, you don't want it to come down to he say/he say/she say.

I wouldn't get rid of the car because of water damage, I would get rid of it due to crash damage by-products / poor repair. In reality, I would probably take it back from this repair shop and drive it and check it. If it kept having issues, that would be the first time I would trade a vehicle in. I have never traded in. My vehicles are solid, so I sell them. But when I get a lemon, it's going to a dealer. Because, I worked for OEM, I had an inside view of what goes on at dealers. They make casinos look like day care centers. And I enjoy casinos. I wouldn't sell a problem car to an individual, would just make me feel like ... a dealer.

One last thing. If your car has a sunroof, find the sunroof drains in the rear. They might have been pierced if the crash were severe enough. Sunroofs leak. They just do. But there is a catch pan under the sunroof, and it ducts the water to 4 drain hoses, 1 at each corner. Then those hoses run down each A-Pillar, and down the C-Pillars, along the body, and (the rear hoses) terminate usually just to the rear of the rear tire area. Mine in the Corolla had just a bit too little radius in them, and they would tend to hold water and not let it drain.

Those are wise words to live by but unfortunately people have degraded to being unscrupulous and think it's the norm.

i had body work done and trunk flood with same electronic parking brake malfunction. seems one of the unused connectors in the teunk was below water and shorted a wire somewhere in the harness. 30 amp fuse immediately burns once inserted; this is gonna be very costly to locate the ahort

Bummer. Don't take it to the dealer, they're super expensive and not experts in electrical shorts. Find an indy shop who is an electrical expert. This should minimize the cost to you.

Sounds like there was about 2 inches of water in the spare wheel well, if I'm reading your post correctly. If so, I believe that there is a rubber drain plug in the bottom of the spare wheel well that may be missing and that is where the water gets into the wheel well.
