I'm starting to have this problem with my 07. I pulling my garage and the auto lights come on, I shut the car off and the lights will go off after 30 seconds...now every 15th time the lights stay on until the battery dies.....anyone lese have this problem and know the fix.

I believe this symptom exactly matches the driver's side door plunger switch in the door frame. There are several threads about this switch going bad and preventing the lights from turning off. The car thinks the door is still open.

Again, it's been discussed here on a few occassions, and jmcraney does an excellent job of explaining the issue and exactly how it causesythe issue you seem to be having.
I believe there was a TSIB for it at one time, bit I don't believe it's still being offered on older models.
I believe the fix is relatively easy, as it's a piece/part that can be purchased via eBay.

It has been a loooong time. Welcome back! I'm still helping people with the wind noise problem. Thanks again for your support back in 2008 in making people aware that the wind noise could be fixed. I just saw a post at another site from someone saying their 2014 LS600 has a wind noise problem - hope that is something other than the trim, but maybe not.

Replacing the doorjamb switch on the drivers door will fix your headlights Auto-Off problem.

The knowledge here always amazes me. I don't have much but since it hasn't been mentioned yet, a simple temporary solution is to hit lock twice on the key fob. That turns off the headlights immediately.

Well, I know it is counterintuitive but it's not that "the car thinks the door is still open" the problem is that the car never knows that the door has been opened and closed.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. What you are suggesting, hitting the LOCK on the remote electronic key twice, will not turn the lights off if the driver's doorjamb switch is defective. But when it doesn't work that is a good indication the the doorjamb switch is bad.

I am sure many of you have noticed that the doorjamb switch defect is one of my pet peeves and some of you are probably tired of hearing me preach about it.

It is a very serious safety issue and should have been the subject of a NHTSA recall by now.

While a defective driver's doorjamb switch can cause the headlights to not turn off automatically it also compromises several other very important safety systems. The doorjamb switches on the other three doors are exactly the same part as the driver's door and seem to fail in the same manner and frequency. The main risk of a defective doorjamb switch on one of the other three doors is the failure of the auto-relock inhibit that can result in keys, and babies or pets, being locked in the car. Women are especially vulnerable to this because they carry their keys in their purses.
