IMO it's a different story if the person had actually owned both cars.
You know it's funny, but I never started this thread to compare cars. I started this thread to acknowledge the LS460 - perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned the comments I've received from LS430 owners - but I had no intention of comparing the two cars. I like the LS430, I think it's a car famous for its reliability (and that's big in my book). I was just pointing out that the LS460 - so far for me - is starting to earn a reputation in my book as a reliable beast. This is what it's doing for ME, it's proving to be as reliable as my old Honda Accord, which blows my mind for a high end vehicle.

And I hope it continues because if it doesn't, I'll be the first to report it on this thread. I'm honest about cars. I'm not biased because I own the thing - I'd tell anyone in a second if it started to act up - knock on wood, it hasn't.

Ditto.

I too have no issues with the 430. We loved our 430, and I do agree that it was more dominant in the landscape at the time than the 460 is now, but that has a lot to do with other factors than it does with the 460 vs the 430. Lexus has just kind of sat back and let the industry and the segment surpass them...which is a shame. I admit that had it not been for my personal attachment to the LS, experience with the LS, etc I probably would have gotten something else in this segment at this point. That doesn't mean the 460 is inferior to the 430, it just means the competition now is much better than it was back between 2001-2006.

I really appreciate your comments. Thanks! To me, this thread is all about anecdotal experience regarding our LS460's, not trying to reach some definitive conclusion about the reliability of the LS460 in general.

While I don't have enough information and time/mileage in using my LS460 to properly judge its reliability, the combination of features and driving experience is far beyond previous cars I've owned. I'm happy to admit I take it as a personal compliment when someone compliments my car.
