What's that smell?
I did a quick search trying to find my answer and I admit I haven't rifled through the manual. But I just have to know something. Every time I get in my car, there's this fresh scent. My wife hates it. I love it. Am I crazy?

Crazy? Not in the slightest..... At least I dint think so.
I know everyone's sense of smellcaan differentiate quite a bit, so I'm curious to know what you smell when you get in your car.
My car has a scent and has carried it every since I purchased it, and I love the smell. It'd I had to identify it, it's like a cross between a new car scent and leather, though it's not pure leather...
After I do a wipe down of the seats with water and a little bit of wooolite, then wipe them dry, the smell is usually still there, though more faint.
The product I like to use which smells pretty similar and I dint mind the smell that it leaves behind, is Griot's Leather cleaner and conditioner. Smells great and the seats look great afterwards and it seems to aid in the relief of creases.
Now, the one product that's great but I don't like because of the smell it left behind after using it in the seats, was 303.
I was worried that the bit of chemical smell would be left behind and the natural smell smell of the car, which I liked, wouldn't return. But after leaving it in the garage over night with the windows down, then the next night I left them up, the next day, the smell I like had returned...
Perhaps I'm a bit mentally special...

I get that smell too and never really thought about it until this post. I don't think it was intentional but it could be a little off gassing of some the materials and glues or just the natural real wood mixed in with leather.
If the car sits outside in the heat for a very long time I get that typical new car small which has been dissipating form the last two years. The car was bought with only 20k on the clock it was much stronger.

Dealers like to place air fresheners or laundry dryer sheets in the vents when they place a car for sale in their lot. If you check in the floor vents, defroster vents etc, don't be surprised if you find one there.

I just figured that maybe it was something that came with the LS460. As soon as I enter the car I get hit with the nicest scent. I thought maybe it was a part of the car. But all I know is when I get in the driver's seat, I immediately sense that smell. It's nice.

My LS 460L is 5 years old and people still complement on how good is smells. I tell them it's all natural because I don't use air fresheners.

Lexus scent
Lexus does have a certain scent. My 2007 has the same scent as the new ones have, I don't know what it is but it's beautiful to me lol. Maybe it's the dye they use in their leather, or the carpet, I'm not sure.
