Tint advice needed
Posted this in Car Chat too, but wanted to ask you guys also.
I've always thought about tint, but never did it. I've decided I'm going to finally have my new LS460 tinted.
35% is legal here, and my plan is to go with 35-40% tint most likely. Car is Nebula Grey with a grey interior:
I've been looking at tint on the road, and I've been looking at stuff on the internet. I like the way some tint looks...and don't care for how other tint looks. I don't want it to look real flat black, I like a smokier look and a little subtle mirroring/reflectivity I like as well.
My research has led me to Huper Optik, and I like the way the tint looks in pictures and like the ceramic heat rejection, clarity, etc. However, finding installers seems to be pretty difficult around here anymore. A very convenient local installer offers SolarGuard and 3M films. They offer 3M Crystaline for $650 installed. I'm willing to pay for good high quality tint. They have a SolarGuard Ceramic for about $320.
Any advice is appreciated, thanks guys!

I went with 20% because I have a black LS. For your color you're % will look good.
One thing to consider though, is that tint has adversely affected my GPS as well as my radio.

No idea what they installed, and it was done out of town. I couldn't figure out why my radio and GPS were acting weird, then came across the info about tint. Not sure if mine is ceramic or metallic.

If you do 35% with your light interior your tint will look lighter than 35% due to how light reflects off of lighter colors. When I had my LS430 (ash gray interior) tinted with 35% it was like having no tint, only on overcast days it looked tinted. Also definitely go ceramic, I have 70% ceramic on the windshield with a double 5% strip across the top and I can look right into sun without it blinding me.

yea, his tints are most likely metallic. Ceramic tints wont interfere with electronics inside car.
$650 is quite a lot...... dunno if it just cheaper here in FL, or they charging you an arm and leg
just because its an LS. Good quality tints range from $150-350 here.
your car will look nice with 35-40%. i wouldnt go darker as they will be darker than your car.
35-40% isnt dark but i think it will flow best on your car color. A lot of good tint places here use
Llumar and offers lifetime warranty. they claim its one of the best types of ceramic tints on the
market. im not sure what types of tints they offer in your area, but i think solar guard and 3m are
some of the good tints if you cant get a hold of Llumar.

Yeah we don't have as many options as in "sunnier" places. That's their standard pricing, I, going to talk to a few other places.
What tint do you have on your 460 in your sig pic Tee?

Crazy timing. I'm have the same color as OP, but mine is a 2011. I am getting tint done tomorrow at 3:30 in Denver. There are many shops, but I have chose a highly recommend shop that does high end vehicles. They sell all the tints you listed above. If you are sold on ceramic tints, they only go to 35-40%. Not any darker. I am going wth 35%HO. i am paying $450 for the car, and am debating about the $180 for the windshield. In Colorado it is illegal to tint the front windshield, so I am going with something very light. I'll snap some before and after pics when I get into the parking lot of the tint shop
