Reliability and plush ride aside, I find the 430 to be horrendously dated. Interior is not too bad, but exterior? Yikes. It's like they copied a ten year old MB. That said, most who own them don't care about their visual appeal.

i think the LS430 looks fine, but I really prefer the more streamlined look of the LS460. As I look at my new car sitting in the driveway, I find I just want to drive it somewhere. I don't think I'd feel that way if I had a recently-acquired LS430.
Fortunately, I've found a place (here) where it's OK to share those feelings.

The main reason im looking to upgrade to a 460 is because of the updated looks.
That's not to say I don't like the 430's looks, I do , its a sort of classic simple sedan look that I always liked, but its an older model now, and that's just the way it is.
Its been a tough choice because the 430 has been so rock solid and good to me, its like firing your most experienced , senior employee for a younger , prettier one.
But we have to be honest with ourselves here , even the 460 in its stock form is not going to turn any heads , like most cars it needs some wheels and a few upgrades to make its presence felt.

Yep, pretty happy. I mean it was always "driving bliss", but that first few hundred miles of driving after an oil change was like walking n eggshells. Not sure if you saw my Blackstone Labs oil report, but my engine is happy. Still not sure where the quart per 3k miles is going but it's well below what's considered normal by Lexus. It's certainly not the engine that's consuming it, and there's no leak that I can see. Maybe when I get the recall done, I'll have them look for one. Perhaps it's leaking onto a manifold or exhaust, but I think I'd smell it.
Im glad the switch in oil seems to have conquered the hesitation gremlin, that one worried me most.

I don't need different wheels. Nor do I need the car lowered and any number of other things done to enhance the car. But that's just me.

Fortunately, the same analogy cannot be made with the 430 OR the 460.
As for my oil consumption, as I stated, I'm down to 2 qts per 6k miles. In fact, I just went out to check the oil again, and it appears the oil hasn't moved much and there's 1.5k miles on this current oil change so far.

Btw, the 430 won accolades and comparison tests by magazines during its reign. It's actually a very well designed and built car. Of course it's super reliable.
I like both LS's, they're different but also very similar. The 430 actually have many features that the 460 has, it even has oscillating air vents. So don't knock the 430 and It's a part of the LS lineage.

Hey...I just picked up a 430 a couple of months ago, I actually owned a 460 first then decided to add a 430 as a daily driver. I happen to like the boxy look of the 430, looks like a tank.

The 430 vs 460 debate is a long running on here in this forum, I thought it had died but all it takes is someone to take a cheap shot (cough cough doublebase) and its on again lol
All in good fun I enjoy it, better then the mundane posts of "nice car" " nice wheels" and " whats the offsets" , that we are all so used too
