Default Move on or stay with it?

My '07 LS460 is great and I've never had any issues with it. Problem is, I don't use it enough and I'm starting to think if I should keep it or not. I drive a recently purchased brand new truck most of the times (work) and the LS, with 44,500 miles, sits there in the garage - and sometimes I think about having a more sporty car for weekends. What would that car be is the question... in the 5 figure range, not 6. Convertible hard top comes to mind, or maybe a 6 series beamer? As much as I love the LS, I miss the fun of a sports car. I'm not even sure how much my LS would sell for. It has ML and the back seats recline, etc...

You might be able to get 23-25 for it.

New mustang gt convertible sure sounds like fun. That car can take a beating and then some. 6 serious bmw will be in the shop most of the times.

I know the feeling. I get to drive my LS on the weekends and the weather has been so bad lately I'm lucky if I get to do that. I think like that sometimes too until I go for a nice long ride and enjoy the LS. Take it for a long drive, and you might change your mind

Interesting, but I see your point. If the LS is your weekend car, it would make sense to have a nice little sporty thing to cruise in. Whether to sell it or not really is all your call.

As for resale, I did a quick look on KBB. You didn't mention the luxury version so I just guessed on all your adds. to sell to a private party says $29K. The low miles are very attractive to potential buyers. Perhaps you can negotiate from there. Trade in if you can stand your ground could be $26K - $27K. Again, this is all Kelly blue book talking.

As for a fun car, that is such a personal choice. The BMW is a great car and I can tell you from fact, they need repairs and are very expensive to maintain. My neighbor's 5 series seems to be in the shop a lot and my good friend's 5 series was worked on until the day he got a new 2012 ES350. He's had not one lick of trouble since.

Good luck!

I too take my van to work and the LS is for weekend/trip. My situation is a bit different in that I do want to keep the LS, but if I have some money for a toy/Sunday-drives car, it would be a 2009+ Porsche Carrera 4S Cabriolet.

BMWs are so unreliable that there it's startling to become ridiculous. Lexus reliability is not just above the Germans it's literally on the other end of the spectrum.

When I owned a BMW I had some of the same sick fantasies but didn't go though with it.

I was in the same boat a year ago..I had bought the LS 460 to be my daily driver, but I had a nice truck and a decent Accord. What did I do? I let the LS sit in my garage all day...never drove it. People thought I was nuts for not driving it, and they were right. In September I tried to sell it, but I had no takers, so I decided to start driving it. And drive it I have, I've put 13k miles on it since then...loved every second of it.

As for a sports cars...the new vette is pretty nice. Even the ones that are a few years old are pretty cool. I owned one and I'll tell yeah, they go like hell. Test drove some other cars...Viper, Porsche, Mercedes SL550...the vette just goes like a bat out of hell and drives pretty well too. You can remove the top in minutes and it feels like a convertible.

Thanks for the replies. Ok, so BMW is out of the question. Between the Vette and 911 I'd go Porsche just because I had an American muscle car before but haven't owned a bettle on steroids yet.

$23 to $29k (as per above posts) is a pretty wide range, but regardless of price whoever buys it will get a lot of car for the money. If I decide to sell it that is

I have a 2008 LS600hL that I use as my "daily driver," and a 2012 Lexus IS350C hardtop convertible that I use as my weekend/date night car. And I'm about to buy a Honda Goldwing F6B motorcycle to provide me with a second open-air option on warm summer days/nights. Pretty much the best of all possible worlds in my opinion!

Yup exactly...I'm contemplating sale also and once new model is out, prices are going to drop considerably. Especially if the design is well received
