Default Need new Brake pads, any suggestions?

I had my car serviced 2 days ago and was told I've only got about 1 month worth of driving on my brake pads left, I asked my friend who works there as a service rep how much it would be to replace them and he told me $600 for front and rear plus tax, that includes labor, price seemed really steep just for some pads, guess that's just how the stealership is, now I'm considering going for aftermarket pads and rotors since factory stuff is so much, I'm pretty certain I can get both rotors and pads for less than the dealer is trying to charge me for the pads alone. I'm looking for something good quality at a reasonable price, can anyone point me in a good direction?

I considered those already but since they don't make them for the LS460 anymore it looks like I'll need to to with another brand

Really? Bummer. I wonder why.

Placeforbrakes still lists them for the LS460, so maybe you can grab some still in stock before they run out.

Where did you hear they don't make them for the 460? They can be found anywhere online for the 460. I just checked.

I did manage to find them but it seems most shops in my area only have fronts and tell me they haven't been able to get the rears so I'll have to go with other options

Did you try placeforbrakes that chuckwagon mentioned? I got rears from them a month or so ago.

I'd buy them from the place RoadFrog pointed out but Akebono lists them on their website.

Akebono brakes...................

Then go to Web Catalog, input your info and there it is.

Default Akebono Brake Pad Question

Had my Fuel Pressure Sensor Recall and 40K service done yesterday at Lexus of Omaha. The service showed that the pads were 5mm on the front and 4mm on the rear brake pads. So I should be thinking of doing a brake job at the next service or 43 - 44K. I asked my service guy if they had any problems with me bring in Akebono Brake pads for the job. He indicated that they would not have a problem using brake pads I provided just to make sure if there were any kits needed for installation on the LS to bring them. They would turn the rotors and install my brakes pads. So here is my question, is there any kit front or rear that I should also order when ordering new Akebono pads? I will order from one of the above Akebono brake pad supplier links posted above. Should I be looking at replacing the parking brake pad as well? I just have 38,700 miles on the car now but will be in the 43-44 K range when I am due for my next service?

if you google akebono pads for a ls460 they'll pop up but their only for rwd models. awd cars have bigger brakes and less aftermarket options so he could have looked in all the right places but it wasn't available to him if he has awd.....if u have rwd then i don't know
