Default Seat Belt Locking Mechanism!

Hi Chaps

I have an 07 LS460L and one of the little light lenses on my driver side seatbelt locking mechanisms has fallen inside of it and I cannot insert my seat belt into it any more.

Can this thing be serviced without removing the seat, or must the seat come out?

Pondering if I should do it myself or pay the $500 warranty deduct and take it to Lexus.

Take a flashlight and see if you can see into the seat belt lock. If you can, try taking a long match or toothpick and see if you can get it out. A pair of long, thin tweezers might work but you may need to disconnect the battery before inserting anything metallic with a shape that's not designed to go in there.

Yes they will....as will ANY car manufacturer. They do not want to be associated with anyone being killed or injured because of the failure of their safety equipment. Within limits of course, but seatbelts for sure. I know Acura does this.

Interesting, my Lexus extended warranty specifically excludes seatbelts (?!)

Exactly! Some miniscule modicum of common sense is called for when approaching these issues. All truth is not to be found in a warranty exclusion statement carefully crafted by lawyers to maximize corporate options at the expense of its customers/end users.
