a little reading on the future LS

Emotional? like what Acura tried and failed at.
Understated luxury is the reasons why I like the LS. I'm not rich by any means but I understand the difference between new rich and old rich and it looks like Lexus wants to trade some of that distinction for flash. Keep it classy Lexus.

They have a few huge things to deal with here.
First they need to get away from the performance idea they keep heading towards and make a luxury car. Yes don't get me wrong. Make a F Sport model if you like, but I want luxury first. Yes 450 horse would be great, but I want massage seats, and other goodies that should have been here long before now.
Seems like Lexus has become much too comfortable where they are rather than the hunger they used to have. And I don't know if this guy has seen the current line up but it has become rather difficult to spot the differences between the models in the current year when looking from the front.
I want a classy, powerful, luxurious car. I'm not looking to take it to the track, I don't want it to be small either.

I've owned 5 LS's: 1991, 2 x 1999, 2005, 2008. Every single year they had near equal HP (+/- 5) to the equivalent S-class, and about 20-30 more HP than the equivalent 7 Series of the same year (minus the 05).
I will likely never buy a LS again, Lexus has lost its-self with every single new car. The RCF being the biggest joke of all. If Lexus does not offer the new LS as TT with a minimum of 470HP, they are going backwards in terms of what they have done historically.

This is my 3rd LS (94/05/08). I'm completely satisfied with my 08. Great car. But it's just what I want: a little more sporty than the 430, fast, smooth, toys, fun! Happy happy happy!
Hope the next line of LS cars can top the 07-12 models. No fan of the 13-14.

RZ, what do you dislike about the 13-14 versue the 7-12 cars? I agree with those who want luxury first. I don't give a rat's tailpiple if I can go 0-60 in 3 seconds or not. Frankly I wouldn't be disappointed in a 6 cylinder flagship that gets better MPGs. I paid $2.79 today for regular (wife's car). Fabulous. But over the time I expect to own my next car (5-7 years) I doubt gas will stay cheap. As to an "emotional car", didn't Infiniti blow their entire launch 25 years ago with that type of craziness? And Infiniti STILL hasn't recovered and is still second rate to Lexus.

lexus' problem has always been that they are followers and not leaders.
I'm a tech guy, and i like tech stuff.
lexus makes a great quality car, but most of the tech they put on their cars is 3-10 years behind everyone else. They are a very conservative company and will never change.
their quality interiors are 5 years behind everyone else and their exteriors are 8 years behind everyone else.
as the guy above mentioned, no massage front seats. For me an example of them being behind the times is their navigation system. Its the same one i had on my magellan in 1999.
i bought the car because of the quality. Now i want my "stuff"

"More emotional" doesn't mean that it has to be sportier or less luxurious.
I've been a Lexus owner for a long time...take my GS for instance. Although I've liked all my Lexus cars very much, there isn't one that I've "loved" as much as my current GS. Its smoother and quieter and has a more luxurious interior than any GS before it, but its also crisper handling, the styling is interesting and love it or hate it (its grown on me as I've owned the car)...and for the first time I don't find my eye wandering and I actually am not looking forward to the end of my lease and getting something else.
Thats something thats "more emotional", the car is worthy of a greater level of connection as an owner and a driver.

I personally think the 07-12 look extraordinarily plain compared to the 13-14, especially the 10-12...but to each his own. No harder to differentiate a 13 LS and 13 ES than it was to differentiate a 07 LS and 07 ES or a 10 LS and 10 ES...
