Default ticking / rattling noise

Anyone experienced a noise that is evident when the side window is down which seems to coming from underneath the car. It is difficult to describe but it is a ticking / light metallic sound. Possibly coming from the exhaust system area. It is particularly annoying at a drive through window where the sound reflects off the building.

Going to be hard to diagnose but a couple questions. Is the noise there when the car is cold, warm, or both? Throttle dependent? Only while the car is moving, stopped, or both?

I had it. The dealer said it was the heat shield flexing with temperature changes.

When I had that sound it ended up being the water pump, it was covered under warranty thankfully.

I hear it when the car is warm and the noise does change with rpm. The higher the rpm, the higher the frequency of the noise. I only hear it when the car is stationary and the window is open.

1st world problem if you only hear it at a drive through window when stationary ! Lol
It's just the heat shield on the exhaust . All cars do it to various degrees

Get your exhaust manifold looked at just to be safe. I just replaced mine because i had those same symptoms. It starts off slightly louder during cold starts but dies down some once warmed as the crack and/or gasket heats up. I would also hear it when driving, especially when close to a wall or divider.
