Default Painting LS460 calipers and new rotors

A couple weeks back I painted the calipers on another CL members LS460. He also got new slotted and drilled rotors we got some paint on as well.

Heres what he started with

Heres the new rotors

So because the calipers on LS460's can be a little temperamental when trying to bleed the air out of the lines, I just decided to paint them on the car.

So since the calipers had to be removed to replace the rotors why not just repaint them off the car? Then you would need to do all that masking. It's not hard to bleed the brakes after.

Im not sure actually. Either way the brake pads will rub all the black and gold off once u hit the brakes. But u can also always spray the rotors black to match the others

The calipers have to be Un bolted with 2 bolts to replace the rotors. You don't have to take off the caliper completely and remove the brake line. I know how to bleed brakes but being that my lexus tech wouldn't even take the calipers off for me cuz he knows how hard it is to bleed LS460 brakes, I figured I might as well leave em on. Plus they use a special machine to bleed the brakes on the LS460s at Lexus and they still get air in the lines.

I replaced my brakes with full bbk and didn't need a special tool to bleed the brakes. There isn't anything special about it. The tool they probably used was a pressurized bleeder. Just allows one person to bleed brakes. But yeah nothing special at all and my lines air free with a solid pedal feel.

Techstream IS required. You may have solid brake feel, but that doesn't mean it was done properly. There are some here who truly believe that they properly flushed/bled their systems properly by disconnecting the NEG batter cable beforehand, but IMHO it's folly. Here is a tech bulletin and the PROPER and CORRECT procedure to peruse:

http://myvenza.ru/tech/pdf/Brake_Fluid_Replacement.pdf

For less than a hundred bucks to do correctly, why half-*** something as important as the brakes?

.

Good to know. We've never run into issues. We've done a number of these . We got tech stream also. Maybe we'll look at that but like I said no issues with the three 460s in my crew with bbk
